The Walker Talker
Walker Career Center weekly update - November 20, 2020
Walker Week takes over WCHS Cafeteria
This week, the WCC team created a road show experience for our Warren Central students during their lunches. Students had an opportunity to learn about all 25 career programs available within Walker and were also given an opportunity to take a photo to show their support for a particular program and/or show a future career of interest! Special shout out to our long time follower, Coach Miller who is making his first appearance in The Walker Talker.
BAR HAS BEEN SET IN FIRST ANNUAL #WALKERWEEK DOOR DECORATING CONTEST
The WCC staff might have showed a bit of their competitive side this past week with our first annual Door Decorating contest in honor of #WalkerWeek. It was so amazing to watch our team forget about all of the difficult things around them right now and be able to smile and laugh as they collaborated across programs to create some very impressive displays along with their students. Congratulations to Mrs. Lawson and her Health Science I program on bringing home the building championship!
Dropping Some Knowledge on them
This week we were able to drop some WCC knowledge on all Warren Township students through their Canvas announcements with the help of our amazing and talented College and Career Readiness Coordinator, Mrs. Butgereit!
Thank you to our K-8 Participants
On behalf of Walker Career Center, we would like to thank all of our K - 8 partners for helping us in educating our future Warriors about all of the amazing opportunities we have for them at Walker! Below are pictures of a few of our favorites from throughout the district.
Precision Machine Students Receive Tool Kits
As mentioned a few weeks ago, our Precision Machining program received a grant from HAAS and we were able to purchase tool kits for every student that values over $100 per kit.
WCC CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS WILL REMAIN OPEN REMAINDER OF SEMESTER
Walker Career Center has been granted permission to continue operating many of its 2-4 hour programs under the current black/gold hybrid structure starting on Monday, November 30, 2020 for the foreseeable future. Please be on the lookout for a call from transportation by Wednesday next week. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Walker Career Center office at (317) 532-6150.

Please note: Any program not listed and/or any one period course offered at WCC will be fully virtual and will not meet in person.
Virtual Learning Student Expectations
As we transition to virtual learning for a large number of our traditional courses, our wonderful Academic Coaches at Warren Central have come up with some Zoom expectations and strategies to help students be successful for the remainder of the semester from home.
