Barber Bulletin

The 1st nine weeks ended on Thursday, October 26. Your child should have received his/her report card for the 1st nine weeks today. This is a great opportunity to reflect on your child’s work habits, mastery of grade level standards, and social development. You can regularly monitor your child’s progress through Parent Portal. If you have an active Parent Portal account, grades will automatically appear on the screen. You can access Parent Portal at https://parents.richland2.org.




To create a Parent Portal Account:

1. Click Create an Account


2. Complete the top section with your personal information. Write down your Username/Password.


3. Add your child(ren) in the fields below. To add student(s), you will need to enter an Access ID and Access Password.


a. Access ID - Student ID number (either 12 or 5 digits). Our school registrar can provide you with your child's student id number if you need to create an account.


b. Access Password - Student’s birthday, using 6-digits without dashes or slashes.

Example: MMDDYY - 010104


4. Click Submit.



Our teachers are also wrapping up parent/teacher conferences. If you would like to conference with your child’s teacher and haven’t had a chance to do so, please email them directly and they will schedule a mutually agreeable time.


Tomorrow, I look forward to celebrating many students for being recognized by their teacher for demonstrating one of the 7 Habits. The Leader in Me is the character education program that we implement at Pontiac in an effort to help students develop leadership skills and is aligned to many national and state academic standards. The process teaches students the skills needed for academic success in any setting. These skills include critical thinking, goal setting, listening and speaking, and ability to work collaboratively with others.

Music Fundraiser

Thank you to all of our Pontiac families and friends who participated in our annual music fundraiser. The orders will be sent off tomorrow afternoon and once processed should be back here in 3-4 weeks. Everything will be packaged by your child's name and included in the bag will be any earned prizes, and another copy of your order form. Once we receive a firm arrival date, we will post it. The online sales will be closed once the company receives our paper orders. Thank you for supporting our music program! Ms. Rayner

Lost and Found

Help us help you! Be sure to label clothing tags and school items with your child's name and our Lost and Found crew will see that it's returned. Right now we have collected over 100 items, including jackets, sweatshirts, sweaters, shoes, hats, scarves, gloves, lunch boxes, water bottles, eyeglasses, and an umbrella! We have run out of room to store everything! Please stop by the Lost and Found area in the bus circle atrium to claim your lost items. Any items not claimed by winter break will be donated to families in need. Thank you!

Family Bingo Night

We are excited for our first Family Bingo Night on Friday, November 10th! Details are on the flyer included in this newsletter. Don't forget to return your paper RSVP so we can save your spot! If you have a business that would be willing to donate a prize (gift or gift card) for the evening's festivities in exchange for free advertising, please contact Lisa Rayner at lrayner@richland2.org. We are also looking for any baked good items (store-bought is perfectly fine!!!) that families are willing to donate for our bake sale that evening. Have any leftover Halloween candy? We'll take that too! We will have a box set up in the front lobby starting Monday to collect any items. Thank you!

Student Showcase

Pontiac will be holding a student work showcase for 3rd-5th grade, as well as 4th-5th grade Upper Montessori students. This showcase will take place on November 16th, from 6PM-7PM. The showcase will be superhero themed due to our students showcasing "super" work. There will be a short performance from 3rd grade in the cafeteria at 6PM. After the performance, families are invited to go to their child's classroom where the student will present their super work samples that they are most proud of. We look forward to seeing our 3rd-5th grade students and families at the Super Student Showcase.

Strategic Plan

Parents we welcome you to join us on November 9th at 5:30 for a strategic planning meeting. We’ve met with several stakeholders to compile data that will guide our school's goals for the next 5 years. We would love your input. Please RSVP with Mr. Robinson (trobinson@richland2.org) if you plan to attend.

Veterans Day

Are you a Veteran? Please join us Friday, November 10 at 8:30 for a program, parade, and breakfast honoring you! Check your child’s folder for an RSVP. Hope to see you there!
