CPS Superintendent's Update

Dear CPS Community,

It is wonderful to be showcasing so many in-person events this year happening at our schools in the weekly newsletter. We have just completed open houses, celebrated with PTO sponsored events, students have participated in dances and sporting events, and everyone is looking forward to the CHS Theatre Guild performance of Pippin. If you haven’t purchased your tickets, please see how you can go about purchasing them in the newsletter below. I know this school year has been a tricky one with a return to full in-person school, and I am proud and appreciative of how our students, staff, and families have continued to be flexible to help make this school year successful to date. Thank you for all your hard work – I look forward to more events as the school year progresses.

We will be sponsoring a COVID-19 vaccine clinic for children ages 5 – 11 next Friday, November 19th from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the McCarthy Middle School. Information on how to register for the free vaccine clinic is included in the newsletter below. If you have not yet had an opportunity for your child(ren) to be vaccinated, please consider this free, local option.

A special reminder to our elementary families, next Thursday, November 18th is a half-day for students to allow for elementary conferences. If you have not scheduled a conference for your child(ren), please contact your school.

A COVID Vaccine Clinic will be offered to all students ages 5 to 11 years old on Friday, November 19, 2021. Remedium Pharmacy will be on-site in the McCarthy Middle School Cafeteria at 250 North Road on Friday, November 19, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

An appointment will be made on November 19, 2021, for the 2nd dose of the COVID Vaccine to be administered on Friday, December 10, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in McCarthy Middle School Cafeteria.

Here are the steps to sign up:

1. Go to www.RemediumRx.net
2. Click the red button in the middle of the page that reads "Chelmsford Schools Student (Ages 5-11) COVID Vaccine Clinic".
3. This will bring you to a screen that has Chelmsford. If you have more than one child, please register and sign consent for each child.
4. Enter the Access code. The Access Code is Chelmsford
5. Select the appointment time slot and click submit and sign up at the bottom of the page.
6. Enter your child's demographic information and Click Sign up Now.

Please note:

• A parent/guardian must accompany their child to the vaccine clinic.
• Please bring a copy of your insurance card, however, no child will be denied a vaccine for lack of insurance.
• It is recommended that individuals hydrate on the day of the vaccine.

• Students will be observed for 15 minutes after the vaccine is administered.
• It is helpful to have your child wear a short-sleeve shirt.

Thank you to the Parker PTO for purchasing 2 GaGa Ball Pits for students to use on the playground. Parker has two pits assembled and ready for action. Thank you to Officer Sullivan, Mr. Souza, Mr. LaRosa, and some student volunteers. The first "GaGa Ball Pit" game was a big hit at recess!

Six seniors were recently honored as Chelmsford High School named its Lions Pride/Rotary Student of the Month recipients for the month of September. Seniors Elizabeth Silva and Larry Yang were named from the Hawthorne House while Ellen Angwin and Vishant Raajkumar were honored from the Emerson House, and Sachi Badola and Katherine Mason from the Whittier House. The CHS Theatre Guild will be performing Pippin this month on November 18th, 19th, and 20th. Tickets are on sale. Please use the following link to buy your seats. Project 300, believed to be the largest school food drive in the state of Massachusetts, will run from Monday, Nov. 8-15 at Chelmsford’s McCarthy Middle School with the hope of collecting 32,000 nonperishable food items. Along with the call for nonperishable donations, the annual drive will include a poster contest and t-shirt design contest; grade vs. grade competition; as well as "top student" and "top classroom" donations. Additionally, The Brickhouse "Dine and Donate" is slated for Monday, Nov. 15 at both The Brickhouse Center Grill at 1 Central Square and the Brickhouse Pizza at 67 Middlesex Street in Chelmsford.
