Canvas Transition, Blackboard, and Spring Classes
This spring is the final semester in which Blackboard and Moodle are options for teaching at MiraCosta. Canvas is now in use for over half of all classes and over 2/3 of our distance education classes. There are many options for learning Canvas, including a 4-week online class led by MiraCosta faculty starting Nov. 13 - sign up here. Also, MiraCosta faculty have access to live online trainings conducted daily by Canvas staff, starting Oct. 15. You can preview the schedule for next week now, and starting Oct. 15, sign up for workshops.
All spring class shells are scheduled to be available in Canvas the afternoon of October 23, when the spring schedule is released. Blackboard classes will NOT be automatically created - any faculty wanting to use Blackboard this spring must make a request using the Online Ed support request form. A reminder about this will be sent out about this on 10/23.
