Our Vision
The Vision of RES is to provide a welcoming, happy, respectful, and safe learning environment that supports all learners and encourages students to be lifelong learners.
Dear Families,
It is so nice to be back on our normal schedule. The week flew by and students did a great job remembering and practicing our behavior norms. Report cards went home on Wednesday. Students are showing so much growth during the first semester. We will continue to make goals and celebrate our successes throughout the second semester.
Friendly Reminders:
- Attached below is a short video about the stop arm on school buses and student safety. I highly encourage you to watch the video as a reminder of the Stop Arm Law for student safety.
- We will not have school on Monday, January 15th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
- It is the policy of Rush County Schools, that in the event of a 2-hour delay which falls on an early release Wednesday, that teacher professional development will be canceled and students will stay to their regular scheduled dismissal time.
- Toys, stuffed animals, Pokémon cards, and other non-school items need to stay at home. Please do not allow your child to bring them to school. These items can get lost, stolen, or broken and also create an additional distraction for themselves and others. It helps make our learning environment more productive when we do not have additional items from home. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
- On April 8th Rush County will experience a Total Solar Eclipse. This is a rare and exciting experience. We will not have school on April 8th due to the timing of the eclipse and additional traffic this eclipse will create. Please refer to the informational parent letter below from Mr. Jameson for further details about this unique opportunity.
- In partnership with Rushville Consolidated High School, RES will be collecting bottle caps to purchase benches in memory of Valerie Tindall and Tanner Harrison; two students that Rush County have lost this year. Students can bring in bottle caps and other plastic lids. The caps and lids MUST be clean and free of sticker labels. Cap donations can be placed in the collection tins in each classroom. Thank you for your support in helping us create this memorial bench for two of our community students.

CAR RIDER DROP OFF AND PICK UP PROCEDURES 2023-2024
DROP OFF AND PICK UP PROCEDURES
Drop Off:
No Students are to be dropped off before 7:45. This is due to safety concerns for students and staff.
Cars will come NORTH on Sexton from 16th Street..
Turn RIGHT into the RES Parking Lot.
There will be 5 lanes for drop off and they will be marked. We ask all preschool and Kindergarten families to use lane 1, which is by the sidewalk. 1st-6th grade students can use either Lane 2, 3, 4 or 5. Once you are in your lane proceed forward until stopped. A staff member will be at the end of the lanes to stop cars. Once all 5 lanes are stopped students may be let out on the passenger side. DO NOT LET STUDENTS EXIT CAR UNTIL DIRECTED BY STAFF. This will be done with handheld signs.
Once students are on the sidewalk the front 5 cars will be released by the staff member and then the next 5 cars will pull up to release students.
Once cars are released they will follow in a single file line to the back lane to exit the parking lot.
At Sexton Street all cars will turn right to exit. DO NOT TURN LEFT. Cars will then proceed to Foster Heights.
If you arrive after 8:10 am and there are no staff members present, do not drop your child off. Bring them to the front of the building and drop them off at the Main Entrance.
Pick Up
Car Rider Pick up will begin at 2:45 except on Wednesday when it begins at 2:05
Cars will come North from 16th Street and turn right into the RES parking lot.
Go into the assigned lanes: Lane 1 Pre-School, Lane 2, 3, 4 and 5 for K-6 Students.
Have your assigned number, will be given out the first day of school, displayed in the front window from rear view mirror.
At the end of the lane you will be stopped by a staff member who will then call out students to enter cars.
Once front 5 cars are finished they will be released by a staff member to exit the parking lot. Go to the back lane and go to the exit. All cars will turn RIGHT and go NORTH on Sexton.
Early Student Pick Up
Parents needing pick up a student at 2:15 or later can't pick up in front parking lot due to buses. On Wednesday this time will be 1:45. You will have to be in back car line or make prior arrangements. Please do not use the front lot after 2:15 or on Wednesday's 1:45.
