Lunch Reminders:
- As a reminder, at Galindo, we promote a healthy learning environment and part of that occurs with nutrition. We highly discourage students from bringing any sort of hot/spicy chips like Takis, Hot Cheetos, Hot Doritos, etc. We also discourage sodas and candy. In the cafeteria we will ask students to put these items away and save them for later (either after school or during a time deemed by the teacher that does not take away from instructional time). We will NOT confiscate any food items from students unless they are being unsafe. In that case, we will give the items to your child's teacher to be returned at the end of the day.
- In addition, we encourage students to bring their reusable water bottle to the cafeteria. Often students do not choose a milk or drink all of their milk and are still thirsty. The reusable water bottles are perfect in this situation! Students can even refill their water bottles at the fountain inside the cafeteria. Students will not be allowed to get a plastic cup from the kitchen. We have had many unnecessary spills and students then sharing their beverages with the plastic cups. Our water fountains are all turned on and students can drink directly from the fountains or refill their water bottles.
- Another policy we implement is NOT sharing food of any kind. Due to food allergies, dietary restrictions, and for sanitation reasons, we ask that students keep their food to themselves and do not share.
- We also wanted to remind you that you are welcome to come eat lunch with your child! We have the Grizzly Dining Hall reserved for parents and mentors who come to eat with their children. All you need to do is check in with the office, get a visitor sticker, and then meet your child at the cafeteria. You can take your child (but not other students) out into the Grizzly Dining Hall to eat and then return them when their teacher picks up the class. Thank you for helping us keep our Grizzlies safe and healthy!
PK Fundraiser: Last week for our PK4 fundraiser!! They will be selling slap bracelets and stickers! Thanks for your support!
Parent Chat: Join us on Thursday for our 1st Parent Chat. We will review how we spend our Title 1 budget as well as hear from parents about concerns or suggestions for the 23-24 school year! We will be meeting in our PSS's room on Thursday, Sept. 7th from 7:45a and again at 2:00p. Can't wait to see you there!
Grandparents Lunch: Galindo is celebrating Grandparents Day by inviting all our Grizzly Grandparents to join us this Friday, Sept. 8th for a fun lunch with their grandchild. Grandparents and family members can go through the lunch line where our cafeteria will be serving salads or pizza for $5, or they can bring in their own lunch to eat with their grandchildren. Here is a list of our lunchtimes.
