Happy New Year! 2020!
Happy New Year! Time sure does fly when you are working hard and having fun! From hatching chickens to creating Native American tribes, our students have had their hands in a little bit of everything! We continue to work diligently in our primary grades to ensure that all of our youngest jaguars are becoming proficient readers and writers! You can help out by reading to your child every night and having them read aloud to you as well! Practice makes progress! Our upper grade students are not off the hook when it comes to reading. We have a library full of great books, as well as classrooms overflowing with book selections. Every student should be reading every night!

BRIGHT Choices lead to a BRIGHT future
Good Reads for Good Manners: Each week, Ms. Nicole and the Juniper Nutritional Services staff select one student from grades 1-6 to receive a free age-appropriate book for their awesome manners in the cafeteria. During semester one, 112 students were recognized!
Kona Ice Character of the Month: Once a month, teachers select one student from each grade level (grades 1-6) as the Kona Ice Character of the Month. Students are selected for specific characteristics that represent BRIGHT choices. Selected students receive a free t-shirt, special Kona Ice cup (with free Kona Ice), and a certificate. So far, 24 students have received this special honor!
BRIGHT Spot - Every day, one teacher is asked to select a student in their classroom that consistently makes BRIGHT Choices and is an overall great role model for other students. We call this student our BRIGHT Spot of the Day! Our BRIGHT Spot comes up to the office to help with our morning announcements and is recognized schoolwide for their positive behavior. Our BRIGHT Spot then gets their picture taken, which is displayed in our office for all to see!
Lunch with the Principals - Every 6 weeks, 2 students from each class are selected by their teachers to join the principals for a special lunchtime treat. Students are selected based on their positive behaviors that demonstrated our character program, BRIGHT Choices. Students eat their lunch and participate in creating a snack with the principals during their regular lunch time.

Parent Teacher Club - PTC
Shout out to our great PTC parents for hosting an awesome after school movie event for students and for helping out at the Jolly Parade! We sure appreciate you!
This year, PTC will open a Friendship Shop during the week of Valentine's Day (Feb. 11-14). Students can purchase items for friends and family. We are in need of volunteers to help with the shop during lunches (12-2pm) during this week in February. If you are board-approved and willing to help, please let us know!
As always, we encourage you to get involved here at Juniper. If you have any questions about volunteer opportunities, you can contact our PTC president, April Beltran, at beltran1011@yahoo.com.
