Avilla Elementary Family Newsletter
May 2023
Avilla Families,
Spring time is very busy. We will continue to assess students for end of year benchmarking in reading and math. This provides us with valuable growth information for each student and also helps us to plan for their instruction when we come back in the fall.
We have many fun things happening this month, so keep your eyes and ears on alert for information coming home, on our website, and on our Facebook page. We are grateful for your support. Please contact me with any questions, concerns, or feedback that you'd like to share.

THANK YOU TO OUR PTO FOR THE AMAZING CARNIVAL!
Our PTO did a fantastic job with our school carnival again this year. I am grateful for such a supportive group of people. I encourage all parents to seek ways to contribute to our PTO. Meetings take place on the first Monday that we have school every month at 3:30 in our library. There are many ways to get involved! For more pictures of the fun from our carnival, visit our Facebook page.
A message from your Avilla Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
WOW! What an incredible turn-out we had at our Avilla Carnival! Thank you for making it such a success! We hope everyone had a fun time. The PTO is always learning and improving, and this year is no different.
Want to make our events even better? Consider joining the Avilla PTO! Even if you only have a small amount of time to give, there is something for everyone. We could always use more help.
We still have some fun in store for our awesome Avilla Panthers! Field Day is May 19th, and the PTO has secured Rusty’s Ice Cream Truck to come to our Field Day and give each student an ice cream treat! This is completely free to our students- the PTO covers the cost.
Teacher Appreciation Week at Avilla is May 8th-12th. We have some fun things in store for our fantastic staff members at Avilla! Want to help make it even MORE special? Nothing beats a handmade card from a student to their teacher. Please consider asking your child to share how their teacher has made a positive impact on them this year. As parents, we know that letters from the heart are the best!
Are you moving over the summer?
We really don't like losing students, but it happens every year. Please contact us as soon as possible if your child is going to be changing schools for any reason. This will help us to plan for a smooth transition for your child so we can get records ready for their new school.
Panther Pride Celebration and Awards for April
Our school presented donations to the Humane Society of Noble County during our Panther Pride celebration for our continued focus on community outreach. Becky and Frost visited us and explained what the Society does and who they serve. We were able to give them over $400 and many donated food items, toys, and even a student-created cat house!

Car Line Reminders
We would like to thank you for helping to make our car line arrival and dismissal process nice for everyone!
To avoid waiting for long periods of time in our car line, we recommend that you show up close to our school start and dismissal times. When too many people show up too early, it creates a line that can disrupt Avilla's street traffic. Please be sure to display your car number when you are picking up a student in the afternoon. All car rider students enter and exit at door 2.
School start times:
Mondays: school begins at 8:45 am, door 2 opens for breakfast at 8:30 and opens at 8:35 for everyone else.
Tuesday - Friday: school begins at 8:00 am, door 2 opens for breakfast at 7:45 and opens at 7:50 for everyone else.
School dismissal: 2:45 pm daily
*Please don't enter our car line before 2:35 pm to avoid creating an unnecessarily long car line. Our preschool car line is in place before Kindergarten - 5th grade parent car line.
