AVA Family Update
November 9, 2023
Good morning AVA Students and Families,
No school tomorrow so the weekly update is a day early. Please note next Friday is a half-day for students. As per usual, I have next week's schedule and the guidance and community updates below.
We had excellent attendance at our ELA MCAS Sessions this week, and expect the same for Math next Tuesday and Wednesday. I just sent reminder emails to all the students who are expected to test.
With this very short week for students, I don't have too much other news, except to emphasize that the end of trimester one is getting closer, and students should ensure their single trimester courses should be a focus if they are lagging behind in any of them.
Thank you for your time.

Guidance Updates
Spring SATs - Digital Exam
Spring SATs registration is currently open! For reference, it is very common for high school students to take the SAT exam for the first time in spring of junior year. Click HERE to register.
Important dates for both the SAT and ACT are listed below.
Free FSA ID Support from a Financial Aid Expert
AHS is hosting an on-campus event on November 17 from 9:00-10:30 AM. Financial aid professionals from Roger Williams University will be there to support students and families with creating their FSA ID. While we must still wait for the FAFSA to come out sometime after December 1, you can start this process now! If you are interested in receiving help, please fill out this form by November 13.
- What is the FSA ID?
Before completing the FAFSA, students and at least one of their parents must create an FSA ID. You can create your FSA ID here; FAQs about this process and helpful resources can be found in this information from RWU.
Bristol Community College - Onsite Admissions
Any AVA seniors thinking of applying to BCC, this event is for you! This event provides the opportunity for students to meet with a member of the BCC Admissions staff to review their application and learn about the financial aid process. Please sign up HERE ASAP if you are interested in attending this event, as it always fills up quickly. Ms Nellie is also happy to help meet AVA seniors at the campus entrance to bring them to the event, just email me!
As always, please email me at nng@attleboroschools.com with any comments, suggestions, and concerns, or to make a virtual meeting appointment. Have a fantastic holiday weekend!
