Principal's Message

Dear Nord Families,

To celebrate the holiday season, Walter G. Nord School will hold two spirit days before Winter Break. Students and staff are encouraged to wear an ugly sweater on Monday, December 19th, and pajamas on Tuesday, December 20th.

The Amherst Exempted Village School District will have a two-hour early release for all schools on Tuesday, December 20th. Walter G. Nord School will begin dismissal at 1:10 pm with walkers and car riders. Busses will depart shortly after and the main office will close at 1:30 pm.

Winter Break begins on Wednesday, December 21st. School resumes on Tuesday, January 3rd.

I hope all our Nord families have a fun and relaxing winter break filled with love and laughter!

12 Days of Kindness

The Kindness Crew has been sponsoring "12 Days of Kindness" in the days leading up to winter Break. Each morning the day's act of kindness is shared on the announcements and displayed on the bulletin board in the main hall. Thank you to our Kindness Crew for helping to spread kindness at Nord!

Gaga Ball News

Thanks to our generous PTO, the Gaga Ball pit received an upgrade! We now have a concrete sidewalk leading to the pit and all along the outside perimeter. This will help keep the gravel out of the play area and make it nicer for our students.

The PTO has also donated extra gloves for students to be able to play. In order to play gaga ball, students must wear gloves. Now thanks to our PTO, every student will be able to borrow gloves if they do not have a pair of their own. The PTO has also donated laundry bags so that used gloves can be cleaned each night.

Fourth Grade Art Website

Mrs. Glowacki has created the Walter G. Nord School Art Website to showcase our students' art projects. Students have art with Mrs. Glowacki once a week and have been hard at work on their projects.

The fifth-grade art website is still under construction, but should be up and running soon!

Winter Softball Camp

The Amherst Steele High School Softball team is hosting a Youth Mini Softball Camp over winter break at Legends Athletics. The fourth-grade camp is on December 27th from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. The fifth-grade camp is on December 28th from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
