Hello Dwight families!

Thank you for your attendance at Parent/Teacher conferences last month! We enjoyed visiting with each of you and look forward to your partnership throughout the year!

Each morning we begin our day by saying these affirmations school-wide: I am loved; I am smart; I am capable; I am unique. I am important. I am a Lil Cyclone! We want our students to believe in themselves. Saying positive words through affirmations fires up neural pathways and makes changes to the areas of the brain that makes us happy and positive. Try them at home too! Here are some to get you started:

• You did it!
• I believe in you!
• You make me happy!
• You did that all by yourself? Amazing!
• I love spending time with you.
• You make me smile!
• I love you!

This month we are collecting information through a survey to help us in improving our school. Your input is very important to us and we want to hear from you! The survey data will be used to help us set goals for our school so that we ensure all students reach high levels of success. Please take time to fill out the survey by clicking the box below. We want to hear from every family.

We strive every day for excellence. However, we know that occasionally a concern may arise. Use the following steps for letting us know about concerns:

1. Contact your child's teacher first.
2. If the issue is not resolved after working with the teacher, then contact the principal, Mrs. Malin.
3. If the issue continues to be unresolved after working with the principal, then contact the Executive Directive for Elementary Education, Mrs. Andrea Schwartz.
4. If the issue continues to be unresolved after working with Mrs. Schwartz, then contact the superintendent, Dr. Ginni McDonald.

Every Tuesday our teachers meet in learning centers to grow professionally and learn new strategies to use in the classroom. They also give input on school-wide decisions through being a member of different coalitions focused on academics, behavior, family engagement, and celebrations/culture.

Every Wednesday grade level teams meet and are focused on one of these four questions:

1. What do we want our students to know and be able to do?

2. How will we know if they are doing it?

3. What will we do if they don't know it yet?

4. What will we do if they do know it?

Join us for a Mental Health Awareness Night on November 3rd to learn simple strategies to help your child with anxiety.

Each month, the RISE team produces a newsletter to explore and promote the Science of Reading in Arkansas. Within the newsletter, there are lots of resources that you will find helpful as you help your child grow on their reading journey!
