As September comes to a close, we spent time this month reviewing the Boyden Expectations. We had grade-level meetings and our counselors also visited each classroom to review what the expectations look like across Boyden.

Ask your children what it means to:

MOSCA MARTIAL ARTS IS BACK AT BOYDEN

The Mosca Martial Arts School combines martial arts lessons with character education lessons and is taught by Black Belt Instructors. They will be focusing on positive life skills including focus, cooperation, self-control, respect, and listening. This program is perfect for a student who has never tried martial arts or is a beginner.

This 4-week class is for students in grades K-2 and will take place in the gymnasium on Thursdays in October.

Picture Day...Smile!

Lifetouch will be taking individual student and class pictures on Wednesday, October 18th. Order envelopes went home this week and you can order online by clicking here and using the Picture Day ID: EVTDNWQ7X

School Store

School Store is back on Friday, October 13th for students in Grades 1-5. Students will attend the School Store located in the front lobby during their recess. A school store Inventory list will go home with students and the PAC Facebook will preview the new items on sale!

Boyden School Council

We are in need of two parents to join the School Council. Meetings are typically On Wednesdays from 3:45 - 4:45 approximately five times during the year. If you are interested or have questions, please contact me.

The Boyden School Council is an advisory group that plays an important role in many aspects of the school. It is required by law that all schools have a School Council. According to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE), the main areas of responsibility for School Councils are as follows:

“The law outlines four major areas of responsibility for councils. School councils are to assist principals in:

Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards
Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school
Reviewing the annual school building budget
Formulating a school improvement plan”

What's Happening in Music Class?

The students have Music class every four days for 40 minutes. Mrs. Cassani provides the students with a variety of opportunities to learn and practice music throughout the year.
