Great Things Are Happening at Haw River Elementary!
Week 33: April Showers, Bring May Flowers
Last week was a great week! Kindergarten and First Grade enjoyed their field trips. We celebrated Administrative Professional's Day and Autism Acceptance Week. Most importantly, our Lion Cub Leaders continued to grow and bloom as we head towards the end of the year!
We are still planning on rescheduling our Campus Clean-up Day. Stay tuned for more details to come.
Just a quick safety reminder: If you are signing your student out early (before 2:20 pm), you must go inside to the front office and check them out. If you arrive early, after 2:20 pm, to sign your child out, you must wait until the dismissal announcements are made at 2:25 pm. We appreciate your cooperation with this matter!
This week we are celebrating Mr. Bryan for School Principal's Day on May 1st. We are thankful to have him as our leader! He adds value to Haw River daily with his fantastic leadership skills and beautiful relationships with students, families, and staff; his excitement and energy are contagious throughout our building! Happy School Principal's Day, Mr. Bryan!
Also, this week, local Rotarians will visit our campus as part of their "Rotary Reads" program.
Lastly, a HUGE event is planned for Thursday, May 4th, from 4:00-6:00 pm. We will be having our first annual "LEVEL-UP" Night. Come and check out your grade level expectations for next year. Rising Kindergarten Registration will also take place in the library. There will be games, snacks, prizes, House Points, and Sunset Slush for purchase. The first 200 students will receive a lanyard for their "gaming" card. You do not want to miss it!!!
Reminders:
- School begins at 7:50 am for ALL students Pre-K-5. If you arrive after 7:50, you must park in the Pre-K parking lot and walk in with your students to sign them in before they can go to class.
- If you need to change your child's afternoon transportation, please call the front office at (336) 578-0177 before 2:00 pm. Teachers cannot check and respond to messages and emails throughout the day when they are teaching. Please do not expect an immediate response from your child's teacher during instructional hours. Office hours for teachers begin after 3:00 pm.
- Families may come to eat lunch with your students. Please reach out to your child's teacher 24 hours in advance to let them know you are coming so they can plan for seating. Remember: NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK MAY BE BROUGHT IN. Upon arrival, please sign in at the front office and get a visitor's tag.

We have some exciting news! We now have an online "spirit store" that will stay open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can order shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, book bags, pants, blankets, and so much more. You can access the store by clicking here, scanning the QR code on the picture below, or clicking the picture below. The store is also linked to our Haw River Elementary webpage.
LION CUB LINGO
Each week during morning announcements, Mr. Bryan will announce the “Lion Cub Lingo” Words of the week. These words have been pulled from an academic vocabulary list that are most commonly used on formative and summative assessments. Students that use those words with adults in the building in the correct context can be rewarded with a House Point.
LEADER IN ME AT HRE
Habit 8: Find Your Voice and Inspire Others to Find Theirs
What It Is:
We find our voice when we combine our talents, passions, and conscience in a way that meets a need in the world. And once we find our voice, we can help others find theirs.
Think about the following questions.
- What are your strengths and talents?
- What do you love to do?
- What’s a need in the world?
- What would make a difference?
Take your responses to those questions and write a description of YOUR voice!
