Book Fair: Our Spring Book Fair is this week! Your student will be able to visit the Book Fair during his/her class's library time. Some classes have signed up to attend the book fair another time this week for students who bring in money to shop.

Kindergarten Preview: If you have an incoming kindergarten student, this Friday, April 29, 2022 is our Kindergarten Preview. It will be from 8:05 AM-10:25 AM. Incoming kindergarteners and their parents will get to eat breakfast in our cafeteria, visit the kindergarten classrooms, tour our school, visit the Book Fair, play on the "big" playground and take a short bus ride! Be watching for more details coming home soon with current preschool students!

CSCO Princess Ball: This Princess Ball is this Saturday! We still need your help with decorating and/or cleaning up! We are also asking for donations of food and drink items. To sign up to help or provide food or drinks, please visit this link. Thank you to those parents/grandparents who have signed up to help already!

Field Trips: It is that time of year for our students to be going on field trips. Please be checking your child's backpack for permission slips and other important announcements. We are excited for our students' opportunities to attend these learning field trips!

End of Year (EOY) Testing: We are beginning EOY testing on May 3 for students in grades 3rd-6th grade. They will begin the iReady Diagnostic 3 Tests and then transition to MAP testing May 17-May 27. Students in kindergarten through 2nd grade will begin iReady Diagnostic 3 testing on May 10 through May 20. We would like to encourage families ensure their students are present during these testing windows and get a good night's sleep and eat a nutritious breakfast each day! Remember, students can eat breakfast for free each morning!

Pharmacy Visits: Students who scored advanced or proficient on last year's MAP test will be get to visit the pharmacy on Thursday directly after our EOY Testing Kickoff Assembly. We are proud of the 83 students in grades 4th-7th who tested well last year!

Kindergarten Cap and Gown Photographs: Kindergarten students will be getting their pictures taken in their caps and gowns on Thursday, May 5 by Wagner Portrait Group will send home proofs for families to have the opportunity to purchase these photos!

Character Assembly: April's Character Student of the Month Assembly will be held on Friday, May 6 at 7:45 AM. Teachers will contact you if your child has been selected as a Character Student in his/her class.

Still Important...

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Around the Corner: Teacher/Staff Appreciation is just around the corner! To help spoil teachers, I am collecting $10 gift cards to give to staff during appreciation week. These gift cards can be to anywhere that staff may enjoy...local stores in Crane, or Walmart, McDonalds, Starbucks, McAlisters, Hobby Lobby, Target, etc. We have 69 staff members who have an impact on our elementary students each day. If we do not get enough for each staff member I will do random drawings with the gift cards we receive! If you would like to donate a gift card, please drop it off or send it with your child in an envelope labeled, "Staff Appreciation".

Save the Date: Kindergarten Graduation has been set for Tuesday, May 24 at 6 PM. Details will come out closer to time! Kindergarten students will have their photo taken in their caps and gowns on Thursday, May 5. If your child is absent that day, he/she will miss out on this opportunity.

Cox CARE Mobile Coming to Crane: The Cox CARE Mobile will be coming to Crane on May 5th and May 11th to provide students with needed services. They will be offering PK/K immunizations and sports physicals for students in grades 5th-12th grades who plan on playing a school sport. Details are shown in the image below. No Honor Choir: Honor Choir will be taking a break from practices for a little while. Stay tuned for when these practices will start back up!

Absences: If your child is going to be absent from school, regardless of reason, we need you to call the Elementary office to let us know. If you call before anyone is at school, please leave a voicemail letting us know your child's name and reason for absence. The office phone number is 417-723-5300 ext. 1301.

Transportation Changes: We understand plans can change throughout the day. If transportation plans change for your child, please call the office to let Whitney know so she can ensure your child gets the message. Some parents have been messaging teachers on Dojo and there are days teachers do not see messages until after students have left for the day. We would hate to miss an important message!
