Attention Junior Boys:

The 81st Session of MBS, Missouri Boys State, will be held June 12-19, 2021. To learn more about Boys State, sign up in the Google classroom to attend the informational meeting via zoom in the library on Tuesday, January 26th at 8:15 am. Please bring your charged Chromebook to the meeting. After the meeting, juniors wishing to apply for Boys State will have the chance to complete the application online. The sign-up deadline is Friday, January 22nd.

Attention Junior Girls:

Girls State will be held June 20-26, 2021 on the campus of the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO. Representatives from the American Legion Auxiliary will be at school to interview junior girls who are interested in applying to attend Girls State on Thursday, January 28th. If you are interested and would like to be considered as a delegate, please sign-up in Google classroom. The sign-up deadline is Monday, January 25th.

National Honor Society candidacy emails were sent to students in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. Candidates must have a cumulative GPA of 3.500 or higher and attended BHS for a minimum of one complete semester. Completion of the application does not guarantee selection for membership. The Blair Oaks Faculty Council will carefully consider all the information provided as they conduct the selection process. The deadline to apply for consideration is Friday, January 29th.

One of the most exciting moments for a student-athlete is receiving a scholarship offer. Years of hard work have led to this moment. Blair Oaks will hold its Spring Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd.

• Wednesday, February 3rd, 8:30 a.m.
• High School Gym
• Attendance will be limited to parents, grandparents, club coaches, and college coaches.

A school photographer will take a photo of the athlete, parents, Blair Oaks coaching staff, and any college coaches in attendance. This photo will be released to the News Tribune for publication. Other photos may be taken by those attending the event.

Jostens offers products to commemorate your student's high school achievements and memories. Jostens will be visiting with sophomores on the following dates.

• 2/09 - Tuesday - Jostens Order Day, during lunch periods
• 2/09 - Tuesday - Jostens Order Night, opportunity for parents to visit, 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Our goal for the blood drive on January 12th was 26 units of blood. We are very excited to report that we far exceeded that goal.

Thank you for your support! Our next blood drives are scheduled for March 14th at St. Stanislaus Church from 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m, and October 19th at Blair Oaks High School from 11:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Students who will be seniors during the school year 2021-2022 must have a meningococcal conjugate vaccination (MCV4) on record with our school nurse before their senior year. It would be helpful if documentation was turned in prior to May 25th. If this immunization is not on file, your student will not be able to pick-up their schedule and parking pass in August. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to e-mail our school nurse, Kelly Reichel, at kreichel@blairoaks.org. The record may be faxed to the high school office at 573-635-6327.
