Let your GENTLENESS be evident to all. Phil. 4:5
Luke 10:3
Go on your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves.
This alarming visual is a few verses into our Gospel reading this week for our All School Mass on Thursday. We are instructed to share about Christ and His love with other people in our community, which is followed by his warning about the potential and almost certain persecution. This extremely vivid picture of vulnerability is painted for us by comparing Jesus' followers to "lambs among wolves" on a mission to share the message of God's love with the world.
It seems fitting for our Fruit of the Spirit this month to be gentleness as we meditate on this small piece of scripture especially. As you "go on your way" to share the Good News with others (whether through actions or words), we must remember to do so in a compassionate and kind way. Even when wolves surround you with vicious, aggressive behavior, focus on firmly facing them with gentleness, mercy, and humility.
Praying for us all to focus on sharing gentle words and actions this month!
