We did it! We completed our first week! I am so proud of everyone! Thank you for trusting us with your most prized possessions. Let's get ready for another fantastic week at Willow Wood!

If there is a change in the way your child will be going home (redirect), please call the office at 214-386-2700 OR email anikelly@melissaisd.org BEFORE 2PM to ensure that your child is dismissed the correct way. We have noticed that parents are contacting the teacher. While that is a great courtesy, our front office needs to be the primary communication for dismissal changes.

This is just a reminder that breakfast and lunch are no longer free of charge. Please visit https://www.melissaisd.org/page/free-and-reduced-price-meal-program for more information regarding menus and pricing. If you feel you may qualify for free or reduced lunch, please complete the form below and return it to the front office.

Please turn in any asthma, severe allergy, or seizure action plans to the nurse along with any medications. Also, please turn in any immunization records that have been updated over the summer.

If you would like to order an art apron for your student, please see the order form below.

General Reminders:

• Students/Parents may NOT bring cupcakes/cake to school for birthdays.
• The front office is NOT a designated dismissal area. Afternoon dismissal includes car-pool, walker/biker, and bus.
• Please make sure your student has a water bottle every day.
• Continue to have your student check the Lost & Found for missing items.
• Classroom snacks should be clean/dry (i.e granola bars, pretzels, goldfish)

Arrival/Dismissal:

• Students will be allowed to enter the building at 7:15am. Please DO NOT drop your child off prior to 7:15am. There is no staff on duty before 7:15am.
• Doors near the cafeteria close at 7:40. If you arrive to see the "Oops you're late sign", please proceed to the main office entrance. If it is after 7:43, you will need to come in and sign your child in.

Breakfast:

Breakfast will close at 7:35am. This will allow students to finish breakfast, and be seated in their classroom by 7:45am. This will also give our cafeteria staff time to begin preparations for lunch. Please note, if a bus is late to school, those students will be allowed to eat breakfast when the bus arrives.

As educators, we make it our mission to help every child live a fulfilled life. Part of this mission involves exploring potential life pathways for after high school graduation. We would like to invite our students to dress for success the first Friday of every month. Your student is free to wear a shirt that shows an option for after high school (ie. college, military, trade school, technical college).

By planning out multiple options and building a culture of continuous growth, students can set a goal of a lifepath and navigate towards it.
