Principal's Message

Dear Vista Families,


Welcome back to the 2023-2024 school year! I would like to extend a special welcome to all of the new families joining Vista del Valle this year and welcome back our returning Viking families as well! I am delighted to return as your principal.


We are all dedicated to providing your child a memorable and engaging learning experience. Student achievement is attained through the partnerships and the relationships we build within our school community. Education is a shared venture and The Vista Staff greatly appreciate the support you provide for your children at home and at school.


I would like to personally invite you to our Back to School Night on Monday, August 28th at 5:30pm. Announcements and introductions will be made at 5:45pm. Come and view your child's classroom and meet the teacher. Each teacher plans to provide an informative presentation on classroom and grade level goals, routines, and activities. Vista gear will be on sale at this event as well. Hot Dog on a Stick will be here as well for an evening meal or snack. We look forward to seeing you on Monday evening.


You will be able to view your child’s assigned teacher by logging into your Parent Connect account. Classroom information on Parent Connect will be released on Friday, August 25th at 4:00pm, as all CUSD schools are still inputing student information onto the portal. Please note that all placements are final. If you do not know your Parent Connect login information, please call the main office for assistance at 909-398-0331. You will also receive a letter in the US mail notifying you of our Back to School Night and classroom assignment. If you do not receive this letter by August 24th, feel free to call our school office.


Please be sure to read our weekly newsletters and the 2023-24 Parent Handbook that is enclosed within this newsletter. I will continue to communicate important events and information through these newsletters.

School Parking

Several of our entry/dismissal points are on Vista Drive so plan ahead for early arrival and morning school traffic. The staff parking lot will be closed. There will be no entry/exit to the parking lot. Keep in mind that all white painted curbs are for student drop off and no parking will be allowed in those areas. Please be courteous to our neighbors by not blocking driveways and adhering to the posted speed limits. Claremont Police Department continually monitors the flow of traffic so please adhere to all posted signs.
Event Information

First Day of School

School starts at 8:00 a.m. School is dismissed each Wednesday, including the first day of school, at 1:00 p.m. Regular dismissal times are as follows: Kindergarten at 1:00 p.m., Grades 1-3 at 2:15 p.m., and Grades 4-6 at 2:30 p.m.

When will I find out who my child's teacher is?


You will be able to view your child's assigned teacher on Parent Connect on August 25th at 4:00pm. All placements are final. Our dedicated staff has put in significant effort to ensure the optimal placement for your child. At Vista del Valle we are fortunate to have an exceptional team that takes pride in catering to your child's academic needs, learning styles, interpersonal dynamics, and various other aspects. We kindly request your confidence in our placement decision as adjustments will not be made. Your support in this matter is greatly appreciated. What will arrival look like? Students may arrive to school at 7:35 a.m. to receive breakfast. The entry for breakfast is by the multipurpose room. Please note that breakfast service will stop at 7:55 am to allow students to be in their class seats by 8:00am. There will be supervision at the breakfast tables. Students who miss breakfast will be able to have a second chance breakfast at first recess. Gates will open at 7:45 am for students not eating breakfast. Your child will be able to walk to their classroom and should be seated in their seat by 8:00 am.

I am not receiving emails from the school. How can I be sure that you have my correct information? Please login to Parent Connect and update your information. Be sure to do this each time that there is a change with your email or phone number.


Will my child receive an iPad? All students will be assigned an iPad and charger. Each teacher will notify parents when iPads will be left at school or taken back and forth from home to school.


Will I be responsible for the iPad if any damages occur while in my possession? If an iPad is returned broken or no longer functioning, you will be responsible for the cost of a replacement device. Parents will be required to fill out a Device Check-Out form accepting financial responsibility for any lost or stolen CUSD property. An insurance policy covering any possible damage will be available to you if you choose to purchase it.

Dismissal Locations

iPad Insurance

During the first week of school, teachers will send out an iPad check out form. Please be sure to return this form as soon as possible. iPads will not be sent home until this form is returned to your classroom teacher. Enclosed is the iPad insurance form. For a nominal fee, you can insure your child's iPad for the entire school year.
