LAW Principal's Corner
November 2023
Dear LAW Families,
November is a whirlwind of a month for educators and students; it feels like it's over before it even begins! However, we have an array of exciting events planned for our students and families, so keep reading for all the details.
I'd like to highlight the LAW Family Literacy Night event on Nov. 15th from 5:30- 7:15p.m. After gauging interest with a recent poll, it's clear that many families are enthusiastic about attending. This special evening will be brimming with valuable reading insights, entertaining reading games, and engaging activities, all set in a thrilling carnival-themed atmosphere! We hope to see you there. Please register using the link below, and there's no cost to attend. By registering it helps give us a head count. Plus, we'll be serving delicious ice cream sundaes, with an optional $5.00 donation.

November is also a time for gratitude. At Lura A. White Elementary School, we're thankful for many things. We appreciate our exceptional staff, who consistently go above and beyond. Our students' dedication to their best efforts every day is truly commendable. Let's not forget our fantastic ASPTO for providing incredible opportunities, organizing events, and offering unwavering support to our students and staff. Our parents play a vital role by volunteering and backing our school wholeheartedly. We are genuinely grateful for everyone in our Lura A. White Elementary family. For those of you celebrating Thanksgiving, we wish you a wonderful holiday spent with friends and family.

Scholastic Book Fair
Get ready! The ASPTO sponsored Scholastic Book Fair is coming to the Lura A. White School the week of November 13-17, with Family Night on Wednesday, November 15 from 5:30pm - 8:00pm. Hundreds of books, at all reading and interest levels, will be available to purchase at very reasonable prices. You can shop at scholastic.com/fair from Nov. 13-Nov. 26.
Ewallet is a way for your child/children to go shopping without having to bring in money. Visit our Book Fair Homepage at http://www.scholastic.com/bf/law to learn more and to create an account.

PBIS News - Dr. Donaher, Asst. Principal
Happy November! Students continue to brief on all school expectations as they pertain to the school, classrooms, recess, bathrooms, and the bus. Students have been working hard to be great community members and have been earning green and gold PAWS to use at the School Store.
In the month ahead, we will continue to educate and reinforce these expectations at our Friday Schoolwide Weekly Meetings. At home, please have a conversation with your student(s) about all school expectations including what it means to be a safe passenger on the school bus--this would be very helpful!
As always, I am here to help and support--please do not hesitate to reach out. I am looking forward to the month ahead. For now, I hope that you all have a safe, healthy, and enjoyable November!
Coming in December, students will engage in the first Trimester PBIS Rally. The tradition lives on! We can't wait to enjoy the fun, all in the name of promoting good behavior and a great learning environment for our students.

Panther Leadership Team Update
We had a successful first meeting on Oct. 24th. Our new Panther Leadership Team currently has 40 members. Our veteran members helped lead our new members in sharing their entry essays and developing ideas for the PLT to engage in this year. PLT members will be assigned to a role in the upcoming Veterans Day Tribute on Nov. 8th. Some students will MC the tribute, help decorate, hand out gifts to Veterans, greet Veterans, handout programs, and serve refreshments after the ceremony. We are looking forward to a fun-filled productive year with the Panther Leadership Team! Members were also instrumental in helping with the cereal distribution for our Domino Chain Reaction Event on Oct. 27th. Check out the video below.
Our next meeting will be on: November 28th (due to the holiday week we will have it the fourth week not third)
