Note from the Principal (Mr. Semmler)
Dear DLJHCharger Families,
1) The last Academic Pep Rally was videotaped and put on YouTube and Facebook. Our Leaman Facebook page is: https://www.facebook.com/LeamanJuniorHighSchool and the YouTube link to the video is: https://youtu.be/c7FlXnpgN1w.
2) Final Exam Week. The Junior High Schedule is a bit different from the High School. Please review it with your child. If you earn an exemption, you still need to check into the school and take attendance at 10:45 and then you can leave. If you do not show up during the attendance time, you would love your exemption. The schedule is embedded into this newsletter.
Thanks for your support of Leaman Junior High. This will be our last Parent Newsletter for this 2023-2024 school year.
Sincerely,
Michael Semmler
Principal of Leaman Junior School

24-25 Lamar CISD Student Transportation Information
Important Student Transportation Information for
2024-2025 School Year
Lamar CISD was recently named a hypergrowth district, which requires significant planning to ensure our schools remain a great place to learn, and our students get the best education available. For the 2024-2025 school year, and in alignment with our mission to remain a destination District, Lamar CISD is moving from Smart Tag to Tyler Technologies Versatrans My Stop â„¢ (My Stop).
This change will require all parents/guardians to complete a Transportation Form. We are requesting this form to be filled out for all current and new students including bus riders, car riders, bike riders, and/or walkers.
It’s especially important that students who ride the bus complete this Transportation Form so they can receive bus services at the start of the school year.
The new transportation software will provide a smoother experience for our drivers, which increases the safety of our students. Additionally, My Stop will provide a parent portal, student rider onboarding, and student rider location.
To plan accordingly for your student, please review a list of important dates below:
- Sunday, August 4: Deadline to submit Transportation Form for students who want to receive bus transportation on the first day of school (Monday, August 12).
- Monday, August 5 – Wednesday, August 21: During this time, if families fill out the Transportation Form requesting bus transportation for a student, the student will start receiving bus transportation on Monday, August 26.
- Thursday, August 22 and beyond: During this time, if families fill out the Transportation Form requesting bus transportation for a student, the student will start receiving bus transportation five school days after the form is submitted.
2024-2025 Student Instructional Calendar & School Hours
2024-2025 Student Instructional Calendar & School Hours
Apr 19, 2024 | Lamar CISD Communications
Time has flown by this school year! And Lamar CISD has been declared the first hypergrowth school district in the Houston area. At the start of the 2024-2025 school year, we are looking forward to opening four new campuses including Willie Melton Elementary School, Viola Gilmore Randle Elementary School, Bernard Clifton Terrell Elementary School, and James Steenbergen Middle School.
Since we only have a few weeks left before summer, we want to ensure our families plan for the upcoming school year.
Recently, the 2024-2025 Instructional Calendar was updated to reflect more planning time for our teachers and separated into two calendars for students and employees. It's important to note that the changes do not impact any of the holidays or breaks from the original version. Below is the student instructional calendar with the latest revisions made to clarify the January 7 and April 18 planning time.
As for school hours, our four-tier bus system remains the same for the upcoming school year. This schedule will continue to support our more than 50 campuses stretched across 385 square miles, so that we can better serve our families and staff. While there are no changes to school hours, we have added our three newest elementary campuses to the flyer.
