Sachse Mustang Band Updates
August 18, 2023
FOOTBALL SEASON BEGINS!!!
Each week our GAME DAY Itinerary will be VERY SIMILAR and available on the same link you will find in this Newsletter below. Take time to ensure that the night prior to any performance, Game Day or Contest Day, that students have all needed items packed and ready for the day! This check-list will be different for the first 3 football games as we will be in our Summer Uniforms that were purchased through your registration. This uniform is also referred to as your Stadium Rehearsal Uniform and Parade Uniform.
Our First Parade of the year is also just around the corner on September 4, make sure you are always checking the band calendar for upcoming events.

Tuesdays should be your primary tutorial day. A huge benefit and life skill you learn being in band is learning how to manage your time. Be sure that you are attending tutorials on days we do not have rehearsals and managing your time appropriately. Students will not be excused from any tardy to practice on Monday/ Thursday unless teacher does not have Tuesday or Wednesday tutorials; plan accordingly. The teacher will need to e-mail directors directly with this information. Be proactive to attend tutorials early in the semester and complete all work ON TIME. Staying on top of your work will ensure your success in your classes, DO NOT HAVE LATE OR MISSING ASSIGNMENTS!
6:30 PM- 9:30 PM STADIUM REHEARSAL @ Williams Stadium
Students will need to have transportation to and from Williams stadium, please make sure to make these arrangements ahead of time. If you need help finding a ride, please utilize the Parent Band App. Students should wear their summer uniform and marching shoes and socks at this rehearsal. This helps get used to what those shoes feel like on the turf. Students receive a major grade for all stadium rehearsals, so make sure you are early with the correct uniform and equipment to receive full credit.

Eligibility
Eligibility can be very confusing as there are exceptions to some classes. It can also be confusing as to when students technically become ineligible/ eligible. We work to communicate directly with students who may be affected so they are clear with when they are able/ not to participate. ALL students are eligible for all practices regardless as this is also a class and grades are taken for practices. Most performances, depending on the nature of that performance are affected by eligibility. Please do not assume that your child is not eligible. Reach out to a director for clarification if your child is also unsure.
The end of the first 6 Weeks will be the first check to determine eligibility. It is imperative that students are passing all classes at both the 6 and 9 Weeks for all marching band activities. This is one of the confusing pieces as the FIRST 6 Weeks grade is the only 6 Weeks Report that a student can lose eligibility. All other 3 and 6 week grade checks can only help a student regain, but will not cause them to lose eligibility.
Finally, please be aware that due to the complicated nature of the system and calendar, it is highly likely that classroom teachers that don't handle eligibility regularly may not understand how it works. Please refer to a band director to answer questions about eligibility.
For a listing of courses exempt from ineligibility, go to our course guides page. Page 20 is where you will find all exempt courses.
POST GAME PICK-UP
The same expectations as student drop-offs apply to pick-up. Please make sure to enter the front parking lot and find a parking space to wait for your student to come to you. Do NOT park in the fire lane to pick them up even if they happen to be coming out at that time, this backs up traffic for other parents trying to get into the parking lot.
FALL BREAK (repeat)
Most Spring activities are listed as well.
