Hello Parkwood Families,
November is a month for being Thankful and at Parkwood Elementary School, we are grateful for many things. We are grateful to partner with you to help your children get the most out of their years at Parkwood. We have enjoyed seeing so many families in the building for parent/teacher conferences. It makes a big difference when our students see us working together in partnership.
We are also very thankful for Veterans of the military in our school community. We will celebrate Veteran’s Day on November 10 with signs designed by our students thanking our Veterans. The signs will be displayed outside around the building.
We are so grateful for our families and volunteers! Thank you to everyone who donated or participated in our Trunk-or-Treat and Fall Party events. The students had a great time and we enjoyed seeing so many of them in costumes. We know that many happy memories were made!
We will be hosting a Kindergarten - 2nd Grade Emotional Intelligence Curriculum night on November 15 from 5:00-6:30pm in the Parkwood Elementary Multipurpose Room. We will have a presentation about the purpose of the program and the curriculum that we use, as well as activities for parents to complete to help with consistency when we talk about Emotional Intelligence. If you can make it, we would love to see you.
Please remember there is no school November 20-24 for Fall Break. We hope this time off provides our staff, students, and families the opportunity to spend time together!
Sincerely,
Sue Bamford
SHINE Award - Kenzie Jackson
Our SHINE award winner for the month of October is Kenzie Jackson. Kenzie was nominated for always being kind and helpful towards staff and students. She always tries her best and has been a great role model for our fifth grade.

Nursing News
Hello Parkwood Panthers!!
Did you know having a reminder sign around is a good way to make sure things get done? One reminder that is so important as we enter the cold/flu season is handwashing.
Handwashing is the best way to prevent illness and infections. And while we all assume that everyone knows how to do it, it is a habit we must teach and review with our kids. Talking to your kids about how important handwashing is will reinforce the behavior when it is recommended at school.
When to wash:
Visibly dirty
Before and after eating when possible
Playing/petting with animals
After using the restroom
When you get home from school
If you cough or sneeze into your hands
Here is a sign you can print out and hang in your bathroom. https://www.canva.com/design/DAFyedxMfFE/Q7mRf8RCxRKdlAxkbT0jww/view?utm_content=DAFyedxMfFE&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=editor

School Fees
Beavercreek City School District strives to create the best learning environment possible for our students while doing this on a balanced budget. Part of our funding comes through student fees that are charged to offset the costs of workbooks, field trips, assemblies, planners, student magazines and other consumable materials.
School fees for the 2023-2024 school year have been posted in PaySchoolsCentral and were due on September 30, 2023. The fee for each elementary student is $65.00. If you are unable to pay your child’s fees or need to inquire about assistance in paying your fees, please contact Mrs. Taynor at (937)429-7604 to discuss the options that may be available to you.
PAYMENT OPTIONS
You may pay by cash or check payable to Beavercreek City Schools, or by credit card using the online PaySchoolsCentral.
Reminder
The due date for paying your child’s fees was September 30, 2023. Fees that remain unpaid will result in the suspension of your Progress Book account and/or report card access. (Progress Book accounts are for grades 4-12.)
