Remote Pilot Class
2023 Remote Pilots
The following Remote Pilot students successfully completed the FAA-107 exam on Friday 5/19/23 in the Twin Cities. They passed the FAA licensing exam, completed the 40 hours of training through Drone Pilot Ground School, and completed competency flights at school. The 107 certificate allows them to fly drones commercially from police and fire operations to real estate, deliveries, and farming applications. Chi-Hi has now graduated over 25 remote pilots in the last 3 years! L-R in the photo below: Matthew Koenig, Ben Cihasky, Drew Olson, Isaac Pischer, Dawson Goodman, Aubrie Voigt
The Green Team
Kam, Bella, and Maddie are three of the most motivated, hardworking students I've had as a teacher over the past 20 years. In a single school year, they have accomplished so much! They petitioned the school district to create an independent study class, looking for ways to reduce energy consumption and reduce CO2 emissions across the school district. They completed their FAA-107 exam to become commercial drone pilots in their free time over the summer. Then mapped and imaged each school district building looking for heat loss using a thermal imaging drone. They went on to write several major grants including the PSC's EIGP for nearly $1 million. Most importantly, they've created partnerships with local, state, and national leaders. They've worked hand-in-hand with Focus on Energy and KEEP to develop long-term energy plans. I've got one more year with them and I can't wait to see what they will accomplish next! - Mr. Nick Gagnon
The Green Team (Kam, Bella, and Maddie) was nominated by UWSP to apply for a national energy award (NEED - National Energy Education Development)! They are the Wisconsin School of the Year and National Senior Rookie of the Year (since this is their first application). They get a $2000 scholarship! They will travel to Washington DC this summer to attend a 4-day conference/workshop. They're also meeting with Sen. Baldwin's energy team to discuss their project!
FBLA Earns Gold Champion Chapter
The Chippewa Falls (Chi-Hi) Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Chapter is having an outstanding year. The chapter earned gold Champion Chapter and had 13 students advance to the national level of competition at the end of June.
Champion Chapter is a series of membership engagement-focused challenges that FBLA chapters must complete for national recognition. The program helps the chapter achieve member growth through community service, business partnership and exploration, and academic development. As a chapter completes the challenges, they are awarded points to achieve recognition. The FBLA chapter participated in all five sections (Summer Starter, Shaping Success, Service Season, CTE Celebration, and Champion +) of Champion Chapter completing over 50 of the challenges. The chapter earned a total of 7500 points and was awarded Gold Champion Chapter status.
As the school year wraps up, 13 members from the chapter are preparing for the National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, GA at the end of June. The following members qualified as national competitors in the listed events.
Emma Koehler, Ann Marie Nyhus, and Hailey Rykal 1st place in American Enterprise Project

Emma Koehler 3rd place in Journalism
