From Mrs. Rhodes
Happy Fall.
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; Ecc 3:1-2
We were trying to get my dad to take one of those pictures that you might see on Facebook for the the First Day of Harvest - holding a sign with his age, his favorite tractor, etc. Growing up on a farm in Iowa, this time of year is still a big deal to me. I always make it home to enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells which bring back precious memories. This past Wednesday was the first day of fall immediately following the beautiful funeral Mass of Emily Sharp, I am contemplating the time for EVERYTHING. You can still view the wonderful homily at Funeral Mass Information & Live Stream Page: Mrs. Emily Sharp | Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church (shoj.org).
As we finish out September and start October, I found an address from Paul VI that says, "Time is very precious because time quickly passes away. It is a testing ground for our eternal destiny. Our fate depends to a large extent on our fidelity to our duties in life. Time is a gift from God. He invites us to prove our love for him in a free and determined fashion We should therefore be miserly in our use of time. We should use it well by working with love and intensity. A Christian should never give in to sloth or boredom. It is fine for us to rest whenever necessary but we should always have our eyes fixed on four final resting place in Heaven. Paul VI Address, 1 January 1976
I think there is a message for us as parents and teachers visit about the progress of our students during the first quarter. We look forward to partnering with you for the growth of these beautiful children.

From our Counselor
I was reminded in a huge way this week how truly blessed I am to be part of this Sacred Heart community. As the school counselor, I get to see first-hand the way our teachers and staff care for our students and strive every day to learn how to meet each student where he or she is as a learner and a child of God. There is a depth of care and love that exists within the walls of Sacred Heart School that I haven’t seen or felt in my previous places of work. I know it is the presence of God that we invite wholeheartedly each day, but it also comes from knowing that we are family. This week, we are grieving the loss of a special member of our family. And while the void is real and comes with sadness and confusion, I am witnessing true faith walking these halls; God’s work in our teachers, students, and staff to which they are responding with relentless compassion, hope, and love. In this place of great learning, it is refreshing and inspiring to know that our student’s emotional and spiritual health is held with utmost importance. If you or your student is struggling with or any loss in their life, please reach out. I am here to help.
Many blessings,
Lori Schierts

From the Nurse
We have had 0 positive/presumptive positive students and no positive staff member. We have our testing supplies to be able to test students who have been exposed but are without symptoms so they can avoid quarantine. These students get tested for 5 school days in order to be allowed in school each day. Nurse Mary will discuss your situation with you to determine if you are eligible to be tested at school. We are continuing our mitigation strategies from last year - deep cleaning, frequent handwashing, distancing and masking. The biggest thing that keeps us all healthy is when you are sick to stay home. Please let me know if there is anything I can help you with.
