From Mrs. Storm, Creston Principal
I want to thank you for your support of CIMS as we have launched our new school year! It's been outstanding to welcome your student, establish routines, and get to know our Creston Scholars.
This week marks the start of NWEA testing, an assessment your student will take three times this year in both reading and math. NWEA Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®) Assessments are adaptive reading and math computerized tests, which means the questions become simpler or more complex in response to how students respond. Administered in August, December and May, the assessments are designed to target students’ academic performance according to their current achievement level. These tests determine students’ instructional level and measure academic growth throughout the school year and from year to year in the areas of reading and math. We look forward to discussing student results at Parent-Teacher Conferences on October 1, 2019!
Our fall athletes are finished with tryouts and are now in the midst of practicing to prepare for a successful season! Many of our clubs and activities are also kicking off soon if they haven't already. It's a busy and exciting time to be a CIMS student!
We hope you will consider joining our PTSA if you have not done so yet this year - you can sign up in our Main Office for just $7!
This week, your students will view a video focused on NWEA testing and its importance. Within the video, I remind students about why I refer to them as "Creston Scholars" on daily announcements - scholars are people who focus on academics and make their studies a priority. Our goals as Creston staff members include supporting your student to become a better person both academically and socially. We look forward to an awesome year!
