Library Book Checkout Every Wednesday
Please be sure to check out your bookshelves, desks, and book bags to find student library books that were checked out in the Spring. These can be returned on Wednesday!
Place books on hold by Monday night.
A quick tip: Placing just one or two popular books on hold gives you a lower chance of getting one, but placing 4 to 6 holds on a variety of books gives you a very good chance to get one that you want.

School Supplies
If your student needs any school supplies, please contact the office. We have supplies available and we can arrange a pick up time. We keep all requests for assistance confidential and are happy to help.
Tips from teachers!!
- Be on time, not late, and not too early. When a student logs in late, they miss valuable instruction time and can create a distraction. When a student logs in too early, teachers are already teaching other students and will deny access to the meeting. Which in turn creates trouble logging in when it is time.
- Have all of your child’s supplies—easily accessible in their learning space. Encourage your child to keep their space organized and clutter-free. Create a kit that allows them to have everything in one spot.
- Eliminate distractions. Turn off television and toys while they’re learning. Move conversations and other family activities to another room.
- Stay close by. Younger children, in particular, may need help to access supplies and books quickly. And older children sometimes need to be reminded to stay on task and engaged.
- Allow them to struggle. In fact, don't be too quick to "rescue" them during the asynchronous times either. When we are in-person, we create moments of mental disequilibrium because that is when learning happens. We let the kids struggle and figure some things out for themselves because that is when learning sticks! Sometimes in sessions, we want the kids to struggle. If one of the group figures it out and explains their thinking in kid language to the rest of the group, that is a powerful moment. When an adult is whispering the answer to a child or telling them exactly how to get the answer, student motivation plummets. During in-person learning, kids with questions have to wait while the teacher works with others. Often by the time we get to a child, they proudly announce, "Never mind, I figured it out!" We want some of those proud moments to continue. (However, during asynchronous times, we don't want them so frustrated they give up. So, of course, help when you can sense that your child has hit their saturation point.)
- Talk positively. We KNOW this is not ideal. But kids will take their cues from us. If we focus on the positives (the chair you sit in is more comfortable than the one at school, you can work at your own pace and get done before 3:10 if you want to) the kids will see the positives. They are going to remember this year--let's make sure some of their memories are pleasant ones.
