The PULSERA PROJECT
AJ DIAZ ASSEMBLY for All Students
On Thursday, October 6, a schoolwide assembly that focused on the dangers of binge drinking was held.
AJ Diaz, a 2009 Manhasset High School graduate, shared how binge drinking in high school made him vulnerable in college to more harmful substances including harder alcohol, marijuana and Oxycontin. He discussed using substances to cope with his feelings which resulted in lost opportunities in his education and college sports. This presentation helped students to understand the dangers of substance abuse, how to recognize warning signs and who to turn to for help.

Coming soon! UNITY DAY at Herricks High School, Wednesday, 10/19/22
Unity Day is a national event focused on anti-bullying and building community spirit.
Unity Day is fast approaching and club members and advisors of Justice League, Peer Partners, and Black Student Union invite all students to join us in our activities!
On Wednesday, October 19, we will be set up in the center courtyard during the lunch periods. We will build a paper chain that links how our students celebrate Herricks, how students contribute to the community, and what each person wants others in the community to know about them. We will also have a Unity Day spirit contest, chalk art, music, dancing, and a positive affirmation sticker sale.
Staff and students are encouraged to wear orange on October 19 to celebrate our diversity and community and also demonstrate that we are united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.

College Application DEADLINES!
Seniors, keep the following information in mind!
- Please go into your Common Application and add the deadline for which you are applying to each college so it updates on Naviance. If you do not do this, your teachers will not know the deadlines of your application.
- If you add a new college to your Common Application/Naviance, you must ensure that your teacher recommendations are added. It does not automatically notify your teacher!
- The deadline for submitting your BLUE PROCESSING form is 3 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE COLLEGE DEADLINE.
A November 1 deadline was due earlier this week (October 11).
A November 15 deadline is due October 25.
A December 1 deadline is due November 10.
And, any application due on or after a January 1 deadline is due December 5.
If you want your counselor and teacher to write a strong letter of recommendation that highlights your strengths, be sure to submit your processing form 3 weeks prior to your deadline and request your teacher's through Naviance. We are here to help you through the process and want to ensure that your counselors write the strongest letters of recommendation on your behalf, which can only be done with sufficient time.
Please be mindful of these time constraints.
