A message from Mrs. Lanka
All Mountain View students will have their first Advisory meeting next Friday, September 4. The goal of our Advisory program is to help students build strong relationships with both their teachers and peers by practicing Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) skills. Our program follows the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) framework which provides a range of activities that helps students master five competencies: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making.
During the first marking period, we will focus on Social Awareness/Relationship Skills, and reconnect with one another as a school community (both in-person and virtually!). We will explore what it means to belong, how to be a good classmate, friend and member of our new hybrid in-person/virtual community. By doing so, we will practice social skills that lead to healthy relationships and positive interactions with others, including: cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy, and self-control.
