From the Desk of Mr. Moretti
Dear Hawley Parents/Guardians, Staff and Teachers,
In December, we will be focusing on acts of kindness, love, gratitude and service to others.
Buckle up, keep your hands and feet in the car at all times, and stay seated as you read on to find out What's Happening at Hawley .......
~ PJ Day ~
Hawley School wore pajamas on Friday, 12/13. We joined schools and businesses across the State to raise money for the CT Children's Hospital. As a school community, we raised $927.
WOW, Thank You-
~ The Kindness Cart ~
Every classroom will receive a copy of and will be reading the book The Word Collector by Peter Reynolds. Using the Hawley Kindness Cart, children will become Word Collectors. They will search out words that have a positive affect on them and submit them. These words will be on display throughout the school. Students will also enjoy some hot cocoa while writing about how to make the world a better place.
~ PTA Breakfast Cart ~
~ 3rd Grade Community Service ~
Reminders
- We are still collecting toys in our lobby for Boston Children's Hospital. Please send in a new toy for a child ages 4-teen before the Winter Break. Click here for more information.
- During end of the day pick-up, please park as straight and orderly as possible. This allows for more cars to park/fit and for a safer walk to and from cars.
- If any family is in need of assistance this Holiday/Winter Season, please reach out to me or our school counselor, Mrs. Shapiro.
- If students are absent or have a going home change, please notify the OFFICE. Without notification, we do need to call and verify the absence. It is fine to notify the teacher but include the office as it guarantees your message gets to the appropriate people and students are accounted for and in proper places.
Dates to Remember
- Fri, 12/20: Kindness Assembly (for staff & students), 10:00 AM
- Fri, 12/20: 2 Hour Early Dismissal, 1:37 PM

Out of the Mouths of Babes.....
"Mr. M, those are silly jammies" said a student
"But they are very comfortable" Mr. M replied
"You have no shoes on" the student persisted
Mr. M answered, "They are attached to the pajamas"
"Hey, Mr. M has no feet today!!!"
