We were able raffle off 12 books and gift several staff members and students Scholastic Dollars to spend at the fair.

What is Concert Performance Assessment (CPA)?
Every March, school orchestra students across the state prepare for and perform in the South Carolina Concert Performance Assessment (CPA), which is much like an EOC for orchestra. During the assessment process, orchestras perform two prepared pieces and play one piece they have never seen before, a process called sight reading. Three judges, called adjudicators, evaluate the student musicians and the director as they perform and sight read, then assign a score based on how accurately and musically the students and director perform. The scores are then compiled and each orchestra is assigned an overall rating of Superior, Excellent, Good, Fair, or Poor. More importantly, the rating sheet from each adjudicator is filled with helpful comments and feedback that directors use as a resource to guide students to greater musical achievement throughout the remainder of the year.

Library Book Trailer Contest
We recently challenged students to participate in our first annual Book Trailer Contest. 21 students created book trailers using various platforms such as Canva, Adobe, and Flip. We were amazed at the students' creativity; their final products were outstanding! A team of 7 judges (including Mrs. Courtney, Mrs. Fisher, our school admin team, and our district Innovative Learning Coordinator) scored the trailers using a rubric that focused on the following criteria: audio, images, pacing, spelling & punctuation, text, length, interest level, and presentation/appeal. All book trailers are being shared in the MMSOA Library Google Classroom.
Congratulations to the following winners:
Kieren (1st place), Ada (2nd place), Scarlett (3rd place), Noelle (3rd place), Kenzie (honorable mention), and Amalia (honorable mention)
