Message from the Principal

We are all looking forward to parent-teacher and parent-student-teacher conferences next week Thursday, October 26th 12-8 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m.-12 p.m.! Please check the sign ups here. Research shows that when parents and caregivers are involved in their child's education, children do better at school. Thank you for making conferences a priority.


Prior to your conference, please take some time to check out this American Montessori Society article entitled, “Bringing Montessori Home.” Your conference will start with an opportunity for you as the parent/guardian to ask questions. Additional components will include a sharing of strengths and areas of growth, data and assessment, goal setting, and strategies will be put in place for supporting learning goals at school and at home.


Coupled with our conferences, we are looking forward to hosting a Raising Readers talk featuring Anne Kissinger, PhD, Children’s Library Supervisor at Wauwatosa Public Library. Please join us on Friday, October 27th, as we will be hosting a talk in the gym from 10:30-11 a.m. for parents. The talk will include engagement strategies for building reading confidence, literacy skills and a lifelong love of reading and learning. Childcare will be provided by Wauwatosa Montessori Staff on the playground. Parents utilizing the childcare are asked to promptly sign your child in and out during the 10:30-11 a.m. window. Additionally, Anne Kinninger, will be available at a Raising Readers table from 8-10:15 a.m. for parents/guardians to stop by and ask questions. Thank you to our Literacy Team attendees (Shannon Kobinsky, Jenice Carolan, Melissa Pallin, Jen Jacobs, Jason Lawent, Heidi Hemling, and Yifan Zheng) for meeting to plan home-to-school literacy events and experiences for the entire 23-24 school year. Including this one! If you’d like to join our Literacy Team, please reach out to Principal Pallin.


Further, our festive Trunk or Treat Event scheduled for Wednesday, October 25th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. is not to be missed! Please join us for the community fun! Thank you to our amazing PTSA for sponsoring this event!

UE Bake Sale to benefit the Humane Society

Jason, one of our UE students, dropped off the $499 to the Humane Society that was raised by a bake sale last week.

Mrs. Migdal went to the Humane Society with Jason and was instrumental in helping the students with the bake sale from start to finish. Thanks to everyone who made this event so successful and for such a great cause.

PTSA Corner

Trunk or Treat—volunteers still needed!

Our annual Trunk or Treat event is next week Wednesday, October 25, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Decorated cars should arrive at 5:15PM. We are looking for more volunteers to help at the event (hot chocolate, craft table, directing cars). Sign up to volunteer HERE.


This is such a fun event! In addition to the costumes and trunk or treating, we’ll have crafts, concessions, and hot drinks. Start thinking about costumes for your family – and your car! Grandparents’ vehicles are welcome, too–just sign up here. In past years, families have decorated their cars with lights, a theme, Halloween decorations, or have coordinated in some way with their kids’ costumes.


Tupelo Honey Biscuits!

As a part of their community outreach program, Tupelo Honey is DONATING a large order of warm biscuits with blueberry jam and whipped butter for us to sell for $4 at Trunk or Treat (Wed Oct 25). ALL of the proceeds go toward the general PTSA budget (field trip buses, events, etc.). This might be the perfect hearty snack if your family is rushed for dinner that night!


Parent Social at Camp Bar!

The PTSA Parent Social is BACK! Join us at Camp Bar - Wauwatosa (6600 West North Avenue) on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 7-9 p.m. We’ve reserved space in the back room to allow parents to hang out and get to know one another in a kid-free environment. We will once again have the opportunity to order popcorn on Tuesday's. The price is $.75 per bag. Students order it on Tuesday morning and the Next Steps crew make the popcorn and deliver it same day. So yummy!
