Read Aloud Link from Me

Every now and then I will send a link to a read aloud to use with your students if you choose to do so. This first read aloud is a Star of the North nominee! You will find the link here.

Books, Books, and More Books!

I am so exited to share with you that during this distance learning time, Maureen, Sheri and I have continued to add more books to our library. We needed to bring more shelving into our space to house the beautiful resources. When we go back to teaching in the building, stop by to check it out and say hi. If you find yourself wondering if we have a book that you need, then visit our electronic card catalog, Alexandria, to help in your search! You many also want to select "Slideshow" to view the most recent additions to our library.

Resource of the Month: Virtual Calm Space (template for teachers)

Shelly Sanchez Terrell offers many great resources for teachers. This is one of my favorites, especially now. Click the link and make a copy of your own to use with students.

Fun Follow

The migration of the monarch butterflies has always fascinated me. From November 2020- March 2021 the Journey North website will update followers with

"Overwintering News From The Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve: Letters From the Field."

"Dr. Ellen Sharp and Ms. Estela Romero will provide bi-monthly news on monarch happenings from the monarch sanctuaries in the States of Michoacán and Mexico, in central Mexico. Dr. Sharp will share reports from the Cerro Pelon Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary. Ms. Romero will focus on Sierra Chincua and El Rosario Sanctuaries. During December and January, Ms. Romero will describe her school visits in her weekly blog posts delivering Symbolic Ambassador Butterflies (as part of the Symbolic Migration Project) and other environmental educational programming. Beginning in February, Ms. Romero will return to report on monarch happenings in the Sierra Chincua and El Rosario Sanctuaries until the monarchs take flight for points north." - JourneyNorth.Org

In the past, my library students learned a bit about the monarch journey and participated in documenting the first sightings in Prior Lake! I am hopeful we will have the same opportunity this spring!
