Spradley Elementary
Spradley Scholar Wrap-Up
Principal Message
Spradley Parents,
Happy Sunday,
We had a great week and Round 1 of STAAR testing has wrapped up! We appreciate all our parents who refrained from having lunch with their child last week and following the state's security guidelines. It was a team effort as K-3rd supported our 4th & 5th graders as they wrote encouraging cards, made snacks for the teachers, and make an awesome banner!
I have added a couple of new events to the calendar below. Please be sure to check look over so you don't miss out on any information.
There is still a great deal of learning that needs to take place before the end of the school year. Please make every effort to ensure that your child is healthy, well rested, and on time to school! If you are unsure about the compulsory attendance laws and how this may impact your child if they have missed too many days of school, please check your Elementary Student Handbook on the prosper-isd.net website. If you have received a letter regarding your child's attendance &/or tardies, we will be scheduling a meeting prior to the end of the year to discuss next steps for your child next year.
Bad Weather Communication:
If there is a possibility of bad weather that could result in the delay of the start of school or closing school, we will use CONNECT ED to notify you. You will receive an email, phone call, or text message notifying you of the delay or closing. Moreover, the local television stations will receive notice as well. Therefore, there is no need to call your child's campus to see if we are having school. If you do not receive any notification, we will be having school and starting at the regularly scheduled time. For this reason, it is important to make sure that your school has the most up-to-date and accurate contact information.
Below are a few reminders about arrival and dismissal times, locations, etc:
- Our early arrivals can enter the gym/side doors from 6:45-7:15 am where staff are there to greet students to the cafeteria.
- Our front and back car lines are open from 7:15-7:45 am where students can safely be greeted at orange cones and in the front-across the crosswalk (parents must park, get out of car and walk to the crosswalk until safely asked to cross)
- Upon bell ringing at 7:45, ALL staff must go inside as school begins at 7:45 am. Back door is locked automatically when the bell rings so if you are late, you will need to drop off in the front of the building where the outside doors are unlocked during school hours.
-Please know that safety is our priority and we need your cooperation to ensure our arrival and dismissal run efficiently.
- If you need to make transportation changes, please call the office before 1:00 so that Mrs. Liberatore can let the teacher know. Her number is 469-219-2250
- Remember: if your child is an unaccompanied walker or bike rider and there is inclement weather, you can walk up to school with family number (tag) and accompany your walker or bike rider home safely. (Some of you are driving up, parking, cutting across the front carline, and then walking up to get your child in the walker line-this is discourteous to all those who are following the protocols) You also have the option to sign a consent to send your unaccompanied child home no matter what the weather entails.
- If you don't come up to accompany your unaccompanied child via walking, they will automatically be put in either A-L or M-Z car line based upon last name. We will need your car tag number in car line as well to pick them up.
What time does school start and end?
Elementary Schools: 7:45-2:50 (Our offices close promptly at 3:15-unfortunately, there aren't staff available to watch your child after this time. You are more than welcome to contact AlphaBest or ask for a list of Day Care Providers who drop off and pick up from our school.)
Students may be dropped off at the door by the cafeteria (side carline, bike, walkers entrance) 6:45-7:15 am. Front and Back doors open at 7:15am./Back doors lock at 7:45 am.
Middle Schools: 8:10-3:25
High Schools: 8:20-3:54
Can I eat lunch with my child?
No visitors to the building April 8-12th due to testing. We look forward to seeing you back on Monday the 15th.
PTO:
As a growing community, we have many families new to the school, and we want to warmly welcome everyone to join the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO). Your involvement really does make a difference in “your” child’s education.
For more information on PTO membership levels or to contribute party money for your child, please visit https://www.spradleypto.com/shop.
WHAT IS THE PTO?
The PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization.
Parents, Teachers, Staff and Administration work together to provide a better learning experience for the teachers and students at Spradley Elementary.
WHO CAN JOIN THE PTO?
Generally parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, teachers, staff and community sponsors are members and can join the PTO.
WHAT DOES THE PTO DO?
The PTO organizes fun events during the school year for the teachers and students. The PTO also fundraisers to support the staff and students through annual fundraisers and membership dues.
WHY SHOULD I JOIN THE PTO?
You should join the PTO to support your school! If you want to volunteer to help out at these fun events, the PTO is a great place to start!
WATCH DOGS-please remember that when you sign up, you need to have already been cleared of your background check and signed up a week prior to when you want to volunteer. This gives Lead Watchdog time to send names to Mrs. Liberatore so that teachers can put a schedule together with activities for the Watch DOGS to do with the class. We want your experience with your child's class to be the best it can be.
Background Checks
If you plan on volunteering at Spradley or chaperoning a field trip this year, you must complete a background check prior to attending. Background checks must be completed each school year. To access the background check application, click here.
Counselor Corner:
Mrs. Kelly Alexander is our amazing counselor. If you have any questions about the services she can provide to your child, please don't hesitate to reach out to her. She can be reached at 469-219-2250 ext. 28130
