Face Coverings While at School
Face Coverings
A cloth face covering is anything that completely covers the mouth and nose and fits securely on the sides of the face and under the chin. (Gators, bandanas and face shields are not permitted as they do not meet these requirements.) Exceptions will be made for masks on a case-by-case basis in accordance with WaDOH and/or WIAA guidance, or a student's IEP or 504 plan.
Indoors: All BSD school personnel, volunteers, visitors, and students will wear cloth face coverings or an acceptable alternative (e.g., surgical mask) at school. The District will review CDC, WaDOH, KPHD and OSPI guidance as it changes and publish updates to the level of protection required as soon as feasible.
A.L.I.C.E.
A.L.I.C.E. is an acronym, that stands for:
Alert
Lockdown
Inform
Counter
Evacuate
The ALICE steps are not necessarily planned in order, rather, instructors and individuals are able to make a decision based on the information provided that increases their safety. Your student will view a PPT presentation explaining the ALICE process and provides a couple of video examples from different situations. Then, students will have a series of questions to discuss in their classrooms about how best to implement ALICE depending upon the situation.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Shani Watkins, the director, at shani.watkins@westsoundtech.
