Attendance Matters
For students who are working at home in a Distance Learning Model (online only), teachers have given students specific requirements to be working directly with teachers for support. These days for attendance are just as important.
If your student is absent from class, please notify the attendance office to clear their absence.
KHS Spring Conferences
We are pleased that so many of you have been working with your students and teachers all year long on their growth and well-being. We applaud each of your efforts in building a student success network during this challenging time.
Traditionally, in March, we have held Student Led Conferences to highlight our career and college readiness efforts which included 4 year planning and post-secondary planning.
On April 28, we will offer a spring conferencing format similar to the one we used in the fall due to Covid-19 restrictions. Each teacher will offer conferencing formats and opportunities that can be scheduled to meet virtually or in person.
Freshman and Juniors will be hosting Student Led conferences to discuss their 4 year plan and their High School and Beyond Plans. This is an important time for families to discuss or revisit post high school options. Student growth and goal setting is a great focus point for conference conversations.
If your student is struggling 2nd semester, please feel free to reach out to a teacher at anytime to develop plans to support your student. Parents and guardians are essential in student social, emotional and academic support at this time. We understand the commitment and work that is taking as you manage other responsibilities. Our counseling department can assist with this support and resources needs. Don’t hesitate to make these contacts. We want our students and families to thrive.
Staff emails are available on the Kalama High School Webpage in the Staff Directory. Staff email addresses are the first name. full last name @kalama.k12.wa.us. Our school phone number is 360-673-5212.
High School & Beyond Planning
Students in 8th, 10th, and 11th grade will also work on their High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP) as well as forecasting for the courses they want to take for next year.
Additional Assistance Opportunities
Connection Difficulties?
We are continuing to host HS students Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday to work in our Internet Cafe if a student needs access to the internet on their asynchronous days. Reservations for the Internet Cafe will be taken weekly. Check with the front office or with Mrs. Bunker to reserve a spot.
Incomplete Grades from Semester 1 2020-2021
Students who did not meet standard to complete a course during Semester 1 were given an NC or F on their report card. The Incomplete/F grade need to be reconciled in order to earn credit. Teachers have given students the information they need to complete the course. Letters were mailed home on 3/16 to families as well.
It is important to make sure students are doing what is needed in order to receive credit for the course(s). Please contact teacher(s) from First Semester if you need assistance grade.
Schedule time on asynchronous days to work in the building with Ms. Geiger for extra support. deb.geiger@kalama.k12.wa.us.
