Icons: A Global Visual Language
I'll admit that I would learn about the value of icons in creating an accessible and inclusive classroom and forget to add them when creating content for lessons.
But icons are important for all of our learners.
Icons can
- Reduce anxiety (whether it's social or academic)
- Quickly and compactly convey concepts
- Draw attention and emphasize important ideas
- Provide a visual memory trigger (e.g. Pear Deck Flashcard Factory)
- Improve student writing (Read more here )
- More about the pedagogical value/use of icons here
Now though, you can use "add-ons" to quickly search and insert icons into Google docs, slides, sheets and forms without leaving the file.
Check out the extension here.
Other Icon databases (offer free and paid accounts):
- Freeicons.io ((Requires free account to download)
- Noun Project (Requires free account to download)
- Icons8 (colorful icons and stickers in different styles)

Have you checked out Templatesforteachers.com?
There are so many different templates on this site that I am not sure how describe them succinctly. They do tend to be geared toward 9th grade and under.
Template types (to name a very few)
- Research process
- Magazine
- Map
- Curation
- Certificates/Awards
- Holiday Activities
- Graphic Organizers
- Pixel Art
