Mr. Posick's Friday email
March 18, 2016
Spring Break isn't until next Friday!
Spring Break is still four school days away. We will continue learning in Merton right up until the end of the day next Thursday. If you are leaving for Spring Break early, or will be returning from Spring Break late, please make sure that you call or email Mrs. Emmerich (emmerichb@merton.k12.wi.us) so that she can keep track of these absences. Thank you in advance for your assistance. As per school board policy, assignments will be given to students after they return from vacation.

Community forums with Mr. Russ
On April 6th, Mr. Russ will be hosting Community Forums at 9:00AM and 7:00PM in the Intermediate School Little Theater. The planned topics are the changing state and federal policies, future budgets, and the Forward Exam, Wisconsin's new state-wide assessment. Any topics you would like to discuss are welcome, as well.

Dear Teacher (but the title could also say "Dear Parent")
I shared this video with the staff today in our weekly nuts and bolts. As I watched it, for the third time, I thought it was important for all of you to see this, too. Here is the link to Dear Teacher. I must tell you I saw myself in this video in a couple of the comments, both as a student and as a teacher. This might also be a great video to share with your child as a means of discussing the way they learn best.

PBIS reminder
As we move on to the final stages of the school year, the staff is reminding students of the PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support) expectations. Among these are classroom and hallway expectations and our dress code. Here is a link to a movenote that was created to share these expectations with students and families to start the school year. Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions you might have. We appreciate your support in helping us provide a positive and safe learning environment.

Lost and Found and lunch bags
There are many items on our lost and found table. We are able to return some of these items to their owners because they have been labeled with the child's name. Others remain on the table unclaimed. Our lost and found items will be donated to charity after 4:00 on Thursday, March 24th. Feel free to stop by to see if any of the lost and found items belong to your family. Any unclaimed lunch bags will be thrown out on Thursday, March 24th, too. Thanks for your assistance.
