Principal's Note
Hawks’ Weekly Update #12
Parents and Guardians,
We are super excited about the end of this upcoming week and the Fall Festival. We can’t wait to see everyone and have the community together. A few essential items about the Fall Festival
Parking
There will be free SHUTTLE SERVICE from Boulder Oaks and Joan MacQueen to alleviate parking challenges. If you get to Shadow Hills early enough to find parking, please only park on the street, in our lot, or at Creekside. The lower lot on the south side of Shadow Hills will be closed except to vendors and first responders. Please respect our neighbors and do not park on private property.
Costumes
Students can wear costumes at the Fall Festival after school but not during school hours this Friday, October 20. Even at the Fall Festival, costumes should not include gore, weapons, or masks that cover the face.
Volunteers
We are very much in need of volunteers for 30-minute shifts at booths. Please check your email communications from the teachers and consider signing up for a shift.
Donations
PTA is still looking for donations candy and of baked goods for the cake walk. Candy can be turned in to the office and baked goods to the auditorium on Thursday or Friday.

Please see the link to be a vendor, volunteer, donate, or purchase tickets in advance.
PTA and I want to express our gratitude to you all. It is because of the entire community's support that the Fall Festival is a success. Many hands are needed to make this night run smoothly, and any and all help is appreciated. We could not do this without our wonderful families.
Thanks,
Pete Selleck

Music class!
I have enjoyed getting to know your fantastic students these past weeks! We are continuing to learn the expectations of being in music class and having fun!
Students should be able to tell you about our composer of the month (September: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and new for October: Scott Joplin)
I hope students have shared “Shasha” with you (ask them!) and for the upper grades we began the Mozart hand clap percussion that we will continue working on.
This month students will focus on telling or showing with movement how music makes you feel, showing high, medium or low sounds, keeping steady rhythm patterns and using boomwhackers for spooky October songs!
Fun national music days for October
October is country music month!
Oct. 6 kids music day!
Oct. 10 hug a drummer day!
PTA is collecting candy donations for Fall Festival. Drop off at the main office.
