Primary Welcome Times!

Tomorrow, August 24th, is the first day of attendance for Woodland Primary students. Due to the excessive heat warning, all of District 50 schools have an early dismissal. For Woodland Primary that means an early release time of 10:40 a.m. for all Primary students. In addition, that means for our EC/WELE students, only AM students attend. EC/WELE PM students will not attend tomorrow.

• School starts at 7:50 a.m. (Students can be dropped off anytime between 7:35 a.m.-7:50 a.m.).
• Students arriving after 7:50 a.m. are considered tardy. Being on time helps your child start the day right!
• If you are driving your child to school you will need to park and walk your child to the correct entry door. (Mono K-Door A7, DL K-Door A2, EC-Door A7, WELE-Door A7-Breezee, Wagner, Villalba and WELE Door A2-Shanaberger, Davis and A. Garcia)
• All students should have their identification tag tied on their backpack.
• Parents will walk students across the crosswalk and to the door. Students will enter the school and be guided to their classroom by our staff.

Remember, give your child a quick hug and a smile and drop them off, if they get upset when separating, we will support you. The best thing to do is to quickly leave. We know this is difficult, but they typically stop crying by the time we enter the school and get them to class. If they see you upset or crying, it does make it more difficult, so put on your best smile to ensure them that school is a great place to be.

• All ID tags need to be attached to your child’s backpack BEFORE the first day of school.

• Needs to be on backpack EVERYDAY

• ID Tags contain student information:

• Student Name and ID Number

• Classroom Teacher

• Barcode (for breakfast/EC/WELE lunch)

• Blue sticker (for breakfast/EC/WELE lunch)

• Transportation Mode is listed (bus, parent pick-up, vans/daycare, KLC-Champions)

• 4 colors:

• Red -EC/WELE or Small Bus Riders

• Yellow - Middle Hall

• White - East Hall

• Green - West Hall

It is important that each family know the meal options available at Woodland Primary. All students can order breakfast at school each day. If students will be ordering breakfast, the daily fee is $1.40. Students that sign up to eat breakfast will eat as soon as they arrive at school.

Each month you will sign up if you would like your child to order breakfast. The form to sign up for August is below. Please be sure to sign up before the first day of school, only students that have ordered breakfast will be sent to the cafeteria as we don't want to incur charges without parental permission. Breakfast will start on the first day of school, August 24th.

Safety First

• Go directly to the left when entering our lot.

• Accessible parking for people with disabilities-please be sure you have your placard displayed or visible or you will be asked to move your vehicle.

• Phone usage prohibited

• Only buses may drive in the bus lane.

• speed limit-slow

• Toddlers and siblings are in the parking lot, please drive with caution.

• Only the front lot-no access behind the school

***Research shows that arriving late disrupts a child’s routine and interrupts instruction. Your child misses activities, a chance to greet their peers and generally makes them feel rushed and behind. Please do your best to get your child to school on time to set them up for success.

• Park in the parking lot and walk your child to entrance A4

• QR code on the door to check in your child late

• Ring the doorbell

• Staff will help your child get to their classroom

• ***Breakfast ends at 8:00, students that arrive later than 8:00 will not be able to have a breakfast. If your child is going to be having breakfast it is advised they get to school at 7:35 to maximize their time to eat.

Just a reminder that our routes are new and students are being added daily. Please have patience with our drivers as they navigate traffic and get their routine down. Student safety is the first priority and so during the first two weeks it is advised that you be at the stop early and understand that buses can arrive late. We have an amazing transportation team, so trust them to transport your child daily.

• Dismissal is at 2:00 p.m.

• The person picking up your student HAS TO HAVE the pickup tag. (See example to the right)

• If you don’t have the tag, you have to go to the office with your license for verification.

• Kids are dismissed by how they come to the dismissal area NOT how you are lined up outside.

• Please do not crowd the door because the students need to exit safely. Wait away from the door by the sidewalk.

• Use the QR code on the back of your tag to sign out your student
