Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Friday, December 8th, we will be sending report cards home with your child. They will also be available online with access through the parent portal. Within the envelope containing your child's report card, you will also see a letter with details of the upcoming community engagement on January 30, 2024. Our School Continuous Improvement Plan is also included. This document outlines prior school results from our Assurance Survey and Early Learning Screens for grade one to four students. The document also outlines our process for how we arrived at our school goals and our 90 day plan of how we are going to achieve those goals. Please be sure to take a look at these documents.
We have started our 12 Days of Christmas! Each day this week will be a different spirit day, be sure to check out the poster below. Our A Classic Christmas Concert is on Thursday, December 14th at 7:00 P.M. We will have a small photo center available for families to take pictures if they wish.
On December 22, the last day before Christmas break, we are having a polar express day. Students are encouraged to wear their pajamas and in the afternoon, we will gather in the gym to watch the polar express movie. There will be hot chocolate, popcorn and candy canes available. If you would like to join us for this family event, we would love to see you there!
If you happen to be at the school after 3:30, please ensure that you do not park in the bus lane until after 4:15. We have a transfer bus which stops here with students from the high school, so we need to keep the bus lane clear until then.
Have a wonderful week,
Bailey Benson

Community Engagement Notice
Re: Niton Junior High Program Viability
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
On January 30, 2024, at 6:30 PM, a community engagement will take place at Niton Central School. The Board of Trustees wants to hear from you about the viability of our junior high program continuing at NCS in future years. Initially, this meeting was scheduled for May but was postponed due to the wildfire evacuations.
This meeting will address concerns about our student enrolment numbers in junior high and the impact low community support has on the junior high program. I strongly encourage all parents and community members to attend the meeting. We need to hear from as many voices in the community as possible to ensure that all different opinions are being heard.
Please plan to attend the event, and consider the questions or comments you want the Board of Trustees to hear as we look to the future of the junior high program at Niton Central School.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me.
I will continue to send out information and reminders of the meeting.
Thank you,
Bailey Benson

Learning in Action
Skills Day
Play Dough Creation
The 2/3 class learned how to make play dough this week. They followed a recipe, created recipe cards, and kneaded their dough. Students had an awesome time in the kitchen and got to take their play dough home when it was done.
Weather Instruments
Students in grade 4/5 created their own weather instruments in science. They had to create a device which measures two kinds of weather (i.e. temperature and wind speed). Students have done a great job of inventing different ways to infuse two weather instruments together with their knowledge of weather.
