What is Campus Race to Zero Waste (CR2ZW)?
CR2ZW is a national 8 week Campaign sponsored by the National Wildlife Federation that colleges and universities across the nation participate in with the collective goal to: reduce our waste, recycle more, repurpose materials, compost food scraps, divert waste from the landfill and reduce our carbon footprint. In 2023, the campaign documented over 29 million pounds of waste diverted through donations, composting and recycilng by 200 schools that participated. Knox had an average diversion rate of 25-28%.
This year, we would like to increase our diversion rate and decrease contamination in the waste streams. Join us in our efforts as a college to take on the challenge and meet our goals in the Campus Race to ZERO Waste in the 2024 Campaign.
