Our #PointerNation Communications Director Joëlle Doye is one of only four National School Public Relations Association members to be named a prestigious Front Runner for the 2022-23 school year! Current NSPRA membership is approximately 2500 across the United States and Canada. NSPRA Front Runners are members identified by the NSPRA Executive Board as emerging leaders who are doing outstanding work for their schools, their state chapters, and for NSPRA. The annual distinction that began in 2010-11 is awarded to just four association members each year, representing the seven NSPRA regions, on a rotating basis. Joëlle is the winner of the North Central Region which consists of Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Manitoba, and Northwestern Ontario. Recently, 28 of our finest mathletes traveled to UW-Platteville for the 49th Annual UW-Platteville Mathematics Meet! After a quick tour of the new engineering building and a few other spots on campus, students headed off to take two tests, one individual and one team. For this contest, students are broken into two levels, Level 1 being freshmen and sophomores and Level 2 being juniors and seniors. Schools are then placed in a division based on their enrollment. This year our team competed in division 3 which was comprised of 10 teams.

Individual award winners are selected based on their scores on the individual test. This year, both Cole Ferrell and Bobby Allbright received this award and were given medals and t-shirts from UW-Platteville.

The team scores are a sum of all team members' individual scores at both levels and the scores on the team test at both levels. This year, our Mineral Point Blue Team placed fifth and the Mineral Point White Team placed sixth. Team members include:

We had an election! Students voted on a fun reading light for the library. The student book budget team noticed that we don't have a lot of decor in the library, so we used the election to make that happen. What a great Career Fair we had in #PointerNation! Over 60 different booths were available for our middle and high school students to visit -- everything from businesses, military recruiters, colleges, and union/training programs!

1st graders traveled back in time to Canada and then across the Atlantic Ocean to London, England during WWI! They heard a few stories to learn how Winnie The Pooh got his name.

Several of our media students, along with Mrs. McCoy, attended workshops last week at The Camera Company in Madison to hone their skills!

The Cornwall Student Exchange is having its annual Racine Kringle sale to support its trip next year! Kringles are $11 each with great flavors to choose from.
