Class of 2027 and Beyond Graduation Requirement
Students in the Class of 2027 and beyond are now required to complete community service to earn a high school diploma in Arkansas (Act 237 of 2023, pages 38-39). The law includes that students will earn 15 hours of community service in 9th grade, and 20 hours of community service in each of the years for grades 10, 11, and 12 to equal 75 hours of service required for graduation. Students will get more information in presentations at school.
Process
- Students plan and complete community service work connected to the curriculum
- Students record community service learning work hours on their CSL Verification form
- Students can optionally keep up with their total hours served through the years on the CSL Log Template (This document is for personal use only and will not be uploaded as proof of hours)
- Students fill out the Documentation Form with curricular connections and reflections. This is also where students will upload their CSL Verification form as proof of hours served
- District committee meets periodically to review submissions and approve or deny submissions.
Please contact your counselor to complete the documentation form
