Start Your Day Right: The Importance of Breakfast for Students
We often hear the phrase, "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day," and indeed it holds true. Breakfast kickstarts our day by providing essential nutrients and energy vital for proper concentration, focus, and overall well-being. As we strive for academic success and an active lifestyle, starting our day with a nutritious breakfast is crucial.
Studies consistently show that students who eat a nutritious breakfast tend to perform better academically, have improved attendance, and are more likely to engage in classroom activities.
Here at Wilder School District, we are committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to start their day with a nutritious meal. We offer free breakfast to all on-campus students. We encourage parents to prioritize punctuality to allow their children the time to enjoy this important meal.
Let's work together to ensure our students begin each day fueled and ready to learn. Make breakfast a priority and help our students thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
You can find our breakfast and lunch menu on our website.

Introducing Sources of Strength
From our Counselor, Ms. Albor
This year, the Wilder Mid/High School is participating in the Sources of Strength program. Students who were nominated to serve as a Peer Leader will be helping spread messages of hope, help, & strength. We encourage you all to keep your eyes open for the different campaign activities this group of students will bring to our school this year.
Use this link to watch a video and learn more about Sources of Strength.
FFA Happenings
From our New Ag. Teacher, Mrs. Hernandez!
It has been an exciting start to the school year for Wilder FFA. On September 27th Wilder FFA members traveled to Middleton High School to participate in the Treasure Valley District FFA Leadership Workshops. In these workshops, students were able to learn about FFA, increase their leadership skills, and meet other FFA members from our area. It was a great experience and our students made us proud!
On September 29th two of the Idaho State FFA Officers visited Wilder Middle-High to teach more students about the opportunities in FFA. The state officers met with our newly elected chapter officer team and discussed what leadership is and how we might use it in our chapter. They also met with the middle school elective class to share more about the FFA organization. Both groups learned a lot and had tons of fun.
We have also elected our 2023-2024 Wilder Chapter Officer team. We are proud to welcome Molly Bagley as President, Abby Scott as Vice President, Emma Hacker as Treasurer, Gabriella Fogg as Secretary/Reporter, and Jayden Dennis as Sentinel. We are excited to see what this team is able to accomplish in the upcoming year.
Wilder Elementary Update
This October will be full of fun activities.
Our first Student Celebration Assembly will be on Wed., Oct. 25 at 9 am in Mercer Gym. We will celebrate and recognize students on a variety of achievements, including academic growth and students' demonstration of the Habits of Mind. Teachers will reach out to families of students being recognized this month.
Next, our Parent Teacher Organization is organizing this year's Trunk or Treat. The theme is: Your Favorite Story. This activity will be during the school day from 1 pm until about 1:30/1:45 pm in the Mercer parking lot. If you would like to decorate your vehicle and give out candy, please email/call Ms. Golden at the front desk to get on our list. Spots are limited. You can reach Ms. Golden at agolden@wilderschools.org or 208-337-7400 ext. 2.
Additionally, in an effort to help students celebrate Halloween safely and healthily, while still ensuring a high quality academic environment, here are a few guidelines:
- We are not accepting candy or food treats for student's classrooms; HOWEVER, if you'd like to provide something to the classroom, talk to your child's teacher about non-food items, such as pencils, craft items, stickers, or something similar.
- Although, we aren't allowing outside candy/food, the school will be providing a special treat to every student in each class to ensure a special day!
- If you want to provide candy, you are still welcome to participate in the Trunk-or-Treat event (see the above details).
- No Hallloween masks - we need to be able to recognize students at all times. Painted faces are allowable.
- No scary costumes / makeup - we have students as young as 5 in our school that can be easily scared. We need to make sure all students, even our youngest, are able to learn without being startled.
- You are welcome to send students in their costumes, as we won't have available school time for changing into costumes.
Lastly, our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is in full swing planning a few activities for this school year. If you would like to help out, give Ms. Golden a call/email and she can get you in the mix. Our next PTO meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 6 pm in the elementary library.
As always, if you have questions for me, please reach out.
Sincerely,
Dr. Zamora
Wilder Mid/High Update
Our school is like a big puzzle, and each student, teacher, and staff member is a unique piece that contributes to a beautiful mosaic of cultures and traditions. We celebrate this diversity as the school year begins, giving kudos to our dedicated teachers who are enriching our learning experience in subjects like art, social studies, animation, writing, reading, math, science, Spanish, etc.
Every day is a chance to learn something new, whether it's about the flavors of a different cuisine or the celebrations of a unique holiday. Embracing these opportunities makes us more culturally aware and open-minded. The traditions provide a sense of continuity, connection, and identity. While we may have different traditions, we can all appreciate the value they hold in our lives.
Wilder is where we learn, grow, and celebrate to create a stronger, more unified community. Thank you for being part of our incredible mosaic of cultures and traditions.
Be on the lookout for PAC (Parent Advisory Council) meetings to be scheduled soon. We encourage parents to be a part of building up our programs while advocating and partnering in their child's education.
Sincerely,
Principal Lindsey
Idaho Future Ready Academy Update
Hello Idaho Future-Ready Academy families!
Hope many of you were able to make our Farmstead group trip at the end of September. If you didn't, or if you want more activities like this, you are in luck!. Our next group trip is going to be a game day on Wed., Nov. 9. Bring your favorite board/card game that you can play with your classmates. More details will soon be added to our school website at idahofra.org.
Also, for those interested in booking a time at the lab, check out the button on the homepage of the IFRA website (Idahofra.org), and click on the "Onsite Campus Sign-up."
We are looking to put together a student advisory group. This will be kind of like a student council, but not as formal. The goal of this group is still a work in progress, but the main goal is to be an advisory group to provide me, your principal, and Mr. Jones, your vice-principal, student opinions, thoughts, and ideas on how to make IFRA even greater. Mrs. Hawes will be facilitating this effort. Look out for more information soon.
IFRA will be hosting its own picture day on October 12, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at our IFRA Nampa campus lab. You can buy pictures and/or a student ID card. No appointments are needed - just drop in during that time block. Packets will be available at the Nampa campus. You can also order using this link. Order code: 79553YB
As always, if you have questions for me, please reach out.
Sincerely,
Dr. Zamora
Message from Superintendent, Dr. Dillon.
CULTURE:
Greetings, Wildcat Country! It’s astounding to realize we are already in October. The seasons are transitioning, and the year's harvest is almost complete. This month, our theme is “Culture in Focus.” A positive culture is reflected in the day-to-day experiences within each classroom and every learning space across the district. Upholding a positive learning culture and supporting students are paramount, as outlined in our strategic plan and guiding principles.
One might wonder how we assess the success or deficiencies of our learning culture. Essentially, it boils down to three indicators: the insights gained from classroom visits to observe real-time learning, the percentage of students referred to the office for behavioral issues, and the dialogues that occur in the faculty lounge. When these indicators align, it reflects a positive learning culture and robust student support throughout the building and district.
It’s crucial to acknowledge that no institution is perfect, but the pursuit of improvement is continual—we strive to be better today than we were yesterday. My primary focus to gauge our culture is classroom engagement. Visiting classrooms to witness learning environments is a priority, and I’m proud to observe focused, engaged students and minimal disruptions. When learning is personalized, off-task behaviors decrease, leading to fewer office referrals.
Children will inevitably have disagreements or conflicts, providing us with opportunities to guide them in learning new conflict-resolution strategies. Even if consequences are warranted, our objective is to equip students with new perspectives and tools to modify their behavior, facilitating growth that might not occur without such conflicts.
GRANTS:
Exciting news! We’ve been awarded another grant! While full details will be disclosed once the organization announces the winners, I can share that this grant will significantly bolster our district’s financial standing and facilitate upgrades to technology and support for student executive functioning development.
Idaho Launch
Idaho LAUNCH Program Provides High School Seniors 80% Tuition Coverage for College, up to $8,000
Do you know a high school senior who will graduate in 2024? Governor Brad Little's new LAUNCH grants will provide graduating high school seniors a one-time opportunity to have 80% of their tuition and fees paid for after high school, up to $8,000. Students must enroll in apprenticeships, job training, community college and university programs that lead to in-demand careers. There are hundreds of programs and careers to choose from. The application window opens October 3, and Idahoans can sign up now at https://nextsteps.idaho.gov/launch to get notified when students are able to apply. High school seniors or parents of high school seniors should not delay in applying because there is only enough funding to offer awards to about half of Idaho’s seniors.
Fall Athletics
Cheerleading
The cheer team recently traveled to their first big away game with the football team to Idaho City! The squad also joined the football team for the away game at Notus this past weekend. Coming up next on the schedule is senior night next Saturday, October 7th at home against Rimrock. We will be celebrating five senior cheerleaders — Perla Cortes, Yamilet Jimenez, Mia Jimenez, Lizvet Vega, and Kaylee Walker.
Looking ahead to basketball season, the team is excited to transition leadership from Coach Carlyn Crow to Coach Vanessa Hernandez! Welcome to the team Coach Vanessa!
High School Football
The Wilder Wildcat football program has experienced some change in the last few weeks. Due to injuries, the football program absorbed Greenleaf’s football team into ours. This move was unprecedented, as two programs joining into one co-op had never been done during the actual football season. Greenleaf’s football had to end their season early due to significant injuries and their game against Wilder was forfeited. Some good came from it, however, as Greenleaf and Wilder merged together and began practicing together on September 18th. Four Greenleaf players are now part of the Wilder Wildcat football team.
The Wilder Wildcats played a great game against Idaho City, in Idaho City on September 21st, falling short 26-18. There were many great performances of note including Julian Neri at quarterback, both Noe Anguiano and Bryan Jove as receivers and defenders, and Conner Smallwood (from Greenleaf) at center and on defense. Wilder then traveled to Notus on September 30th for their homecoming game. The Wildcats played tough but lost 54-0. There were many bright spots in the game as the young football program continues to grow and establish itself.
The final game of the season is this Saturday, October 7th, at home against Rimrock. Please come out and support your Wildcats!
Middle School Football
Middle School Football suffered tough losses to both Garden Valley and Idaho City.
The 5th/6th grade team had a great start to their season scoring on their first possession against Adrian. Mark Tatum ran for 22 yards on two plays to get the team in scoring position before Guadalupe Rodriguez threw a three yard pass to his brother Alfonso for the first touchdown of their careers.
The 6th-8th grade team had a hard fought game at Notus last week, but fell short. Jesus Andrade caught a 25 yard pass from Martin Leon to put the Wildcats on the board and he also scored a defensive touchdown on a crazy 70 yard fumble return to keep the Wildcats in the game.
Upcoming Schedule for the Middle School Football team:
10/05 @ Horseshoe Bend
10/12 @ Adrian (5th/6th grade will play as well)
10/19 @ Rimrock
High School Volleyball
Wilder girl's volleyball team is currently in 5th place in the Western Idaho Conference with a 4 - 3 record. They are 7-4 overall. We had some bumps along the way dropping games to Liberty and Victory Charter and then beating Gem State Academy last week. But we are in a good position for the playoffs. Nancy Ramirez is ranked 4th overall in the state in Division 1 in assists and Emily Ramirez and Natalie Escutia are ranked 9th and 11th respectively in the state in digs. Senior night was Tuesday. We honored Destiny Winchel (DS), Destany Riley (MB) and Zeya Jefferies (OH) in our last home game against Notus.
Middle School Volleyball
Middle school season has ended with 1 win against Idaho City.
We will be losing 2 of our 8th-grade students this year as they go to high school next year.
The girls all worked hard and had a great time and looking forward to next season.
We are planning an end-of-the-season family dinner along with a volleyball game- students against parents!!!
