SHS Students to Paint Art Mural
SHS students selected for Grant to Paint Mural
Students from SHS and the Teen Action and Support Center will be painting the Mural
The Downtown Springdale Alliance awarded grants to four local artists to create murals in downtown Springdale. The program is intended to improve the downtown’s aesthetics and engage local artists by enhancing building facades. A grant from the Walton Family Foundation at the recommendation of Steuart Walton and Tom Walton supports this effort.
Thirty-three artists and eight property owners applied for the grant. Applications were received and reviewed by a committee of artists and non-artists. The committee also worked to connect the artists with downtown Springdale property owners.
Downtown Springdale Alliance selected Mary Beth Breshears as one of the artists to receive the grant to paint the art murals.
Artist and art teacher Mary Beth Breshears, represents Springdale High School with the support of Teen Action & Support Center (TASC) and the Jones Center.
Springdale high school's mural proposal was one of only four accepted among over thirty applications. The students' creative input, along with Mary Beth's mural expertise, made this all possible.
Mural Description: The design is a message of healing, strength, renewal and community. It is inspired by the many Marshallese that live in Springdale, our students, friends, and neighbors. Students from Springdale High School and the Teen Action and Support Center will be painting the mural.
The murals are due to be completed on or before April 15th.
