MST Weekly Update
April 21, 2023

Thank you to our senior class for sponsoring a successful Spirit Week. Each day this week had a theme with both students and staff participating in the fun. It was a great way to lead into our April Vacation Week.
Report cards were distributed to students on Thursday. As previously mentioned, at this point students should have mostly 2s, 2.5s and even some 3s for course competencies. If you are seeing several 1s, your child is significantly behind pace and may not earn credit for that class this year. Please look at the comments as they will indicate if a student is on track or behind (see example below). Also, report cards are published in the Aspen Portal. If you do not have an Aspen account, you can sign up for one here: Aspen Family Portal | MANCHESTER SCHOOL DISTRICT (mansd.org)
We wish all of our students and staff a wonderful April vacation week. When we return from vacation, it will be Teacher Appreciation Week!
Culinary Excellence
Wednesday night MST’s culinary students participated in the Hill to $1 Mill event at The Rex Theater sponsored by FeedNH.org. MST was one of 11 schools chosen to have their culinary programs showcased at this event. The culinary program received a $15,000 donation for being selected. In addition, the program was awarded an additional $5000 for being chosen as the best of the evening!
Congratulations to our culinary students under the direction of Chef McGee. We are very proud of you!
Latin Award Winners
Recently, MST Latin students took the National Latin Exam. Congratulations to Santiago Hernandez, a 9th grade Latin I student who earned a Silver Maxima Cum Laude award and to Crystina Quiroz Arambula, a 10th grade Latin II student who earned a Cum Laude award.
Great work by our students and a thank you to Latin teacher, Ms. Kilar, for inspiring them.
Humanities Field Trip
On Wednesday, April 19th, Humanities 3 and College Composition classes visited the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston to learn about painting and sculpture from antiquity to the modern era. Students explored galleries that featured a wide range of artwork from around the world and throughout time, including ancient Greek and Roman artwork and artifacts, American art, and artwork of Africa and Asia. The trip was a resounding success as students actively engaged with works and learned much about the roles that artwork has played in history.
April 26th-Administrative Professionals Day
Wednesday April 26th is National Administrative Professionals Day. A very special thanks to our three outstanding Administrative Professionals at MST: Kathleen Blanchette, Jennifer Jenkins and Christina Shea. Thanks for all that you do every day at MST to keep things running so smoothly!
Two Important Nights for MST
Two important end of the year events have been added to our calendar:
CTE Recognition Night will be held on Tuesday May 30th at 6:00 in the Memorial High School Auditorium. Recognition Night celebrates all CTE students who have successfully completed all required competencies of their 2-year CTE program. Students receiving a Certificate of Completion are those who went above and beyond and are being recommended for continuation in their chosen trade. Also recognized are those who completed two or more programs and students receiving scholarships related to their trade. Invitations will be sent out in early May to the families of those being recognized that night. Due to space limitations, we can only allow 2 guests per student.
Class Night will be held on Wednesday June 14th in the Memorial High School auditorium at 6:00. This night is for all seniors, who will attend in cap and gown. This evening is for presentation of scholarships, academic awards and other honors received by members of the Class of 2023.
Community Clean-up/College and Career Fair
On Wednesday, April 26th, City Year is organizing a Community Cleanup Day and an Education and Career Day. The event is at Wilson School from 10:00-2:30. Lunch will be provided from the Puritan Backroom.
Please see the attachment for information. Registration is required. It would be great to have representation from MST at this event. It is a great opportunity to give back to your community.
