Great job with announcements this week!
Random act of kindness caught in the hallway
It's finally Friday!
From the Nurse
Over the past week, there has been a significant increase in illness. In particular, respiratory illnesses are on the rise, including Influenza A. If your child is out sick, please notify the nurse, and if your child has been diagnosed with a contagious illness, please specify. We are working hard to keep SRS healthy and keep track of trends in specific classrooms.
If someone in your family or your child tests positive for Covid-19, please call the nurse for the most up to date guidelines.
FEVERS: If your child has a temperature GREATER THAN 100 degrees, they must remain home until they are fever free (less than 100) for 24 hours without the use of tylenol or motrin (these medicines mask the fever).
Some other reasons to keep your child home include :
• When your child has a communicable disease such as strep throat or conjunctivitis that has not been treated for at least 24 hours with antibiotic medication.
• When your child has been vomiting or has had diarrhea within the past 24 hours
Please remember to update pick-up patrol if your child will be out, and contact the nurse if it is due to illness (email, phone call).
DONATIONS WELCOME: If you would like to donate boxes of tissues and /or disinfecting wipes to the nurse office, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you and have a good weekend!

Early literacy encompasses so many components! Each month, we will explain one piece of the puzzle, and offer tips for supporting your child at home. First up, phonemic awareness.
What is phonemic awareness?
Direct instruction in pre-reading skills related to the ability to hear, identify, and play with the sounds in spoken language including:
Rhyming
Beginning sounds
Blending sounds
Isolating sounds
Segmenting sounds
How can you support your child?
Read rhyming books to and with your child.
Clap out syllables in words.
Play I Spy while at home or anywhere else!
Play Guess My Word (ie: I have a b-a-t).
Push pennies for each sound in a word.
