A Word from your Principal
Welcome to the 23-24 School Year!
We are so excited to welcome you to another great school year at Tombaugh Elementary! We are off to a fast but wonderful start! Thank you for your patience during this time of Administrative transition. I have enjoyed getting to know you and your children! I know we will continue to build a great relationship as the year progresses! Please know I am a phone call or email away and would love the opportunity to speak to you in regards to making our time together successful!
We have officially hired a new Assistant Principal, Michele Coats. She will be joining us full time within the next couple of weeks. Mrs. Coats has ten years of administrative experience and is going to be an incredible addition to our Tombaugh family!
This school year, Tombaugh will continue our journey in the Leader in Me curriculum, which includes teaching the 7 Habits of Happy Kids. This program focuses on establishing a "whole-child" mindset with a belief that all students have genius and everyone can be a leader. We will also continue our focus on Restorative Justice, which helps students reflect on their own learning. It emphasizes accountability, making amends, and facilitating dialogue between affected parties. Both programs support our school's Mission and Vision Statement.
We hope to see you all at our Open House event(s), which will be the first of many events we will hold to invite families into our school.
Thank you for all your support,
Lisa Manes

A Word From Nurse Julie
Hi everyone welcome back to school! Starting school Now that our school year is beginning in the hottest part of the year, I wanted to share some tips for how to prevent heat related illness.
- Drink water throughout the day to remain hydrated! Parents please remember to pack a water bottle for each student to drink throughout the day. Our bodies lose water all day just by breathing the dry desert air, so it's important to replace what we lose before and after we go outside in the heat.
- Dress appropriately for the weather! On hot days plan to wear school appropriate shorts instead of pants, and short sleeve shirts. Our bodies cool down when our sweat evaporates from our skin. If students feel cold while in the classroom, they can bring a sweater or jacket that can be removed before going outside.
Thank you Tombaugh Comets!
