APRIL
GARDNER GAZETTE
School Closure
Thank you for your continued support, patience, and grace as we all venture into this unprecedented time together. This week was a time for planning and creating our remote learning plan which will begin after spring break on Tuesday, April 14th. Teachers will be communicating with students and families about educational expectations during this time. The guidance from Illinois State Board of Education is that students at this age should be engaged in learning 60-120 minutes a day. Our goal is to continue educating students while not creating a burden on students and families.
Here are a few recommendations to support your child during this time. Establish and follow a regular daily routine. Encourage your child to get enough sleep. Designate a space where your child can complete remote learning work. Talk to your child about their work everyday. Contact your child's teacher to ask for help when needed. It is normal for children to feel a sense of loss without having proper closure to school activities. Support your child during these moments by being available to listen and reassuring them that this won't last forever.
Please let your child know we miss our Gardner superheroes! Please reach out if you need support or guidance during this time. Stay safe and healthy!
THANK YOU
