MAP and March Madness

Literacy March Madness has hit Pontiac! Pontiac students are participating in a Battle of the Books! Each day students are given a bracket of authors and they vote for their favorites. Some of the author’s include Roald Dahl, J.K. Rowling, Maurice Sendak, Judy Blume as well as many others. The voting will continue next week until Pontiac’s favorite author of 2017 is crowned!


As you know MAP testing is underway. We have offered students a “Dancing with the Stars” incentive for meeting their spring MAP goals. If 50% of our students in 2nd-5th grades meet their goal, all students will be allowed to have a dance party during their global time. Week one of MAP testing has gone well. We will continue MAP testing next week. Students who are absent when the test is given will be allowed to make it up.

IT'S SPRING PORTRAIT TIME!

Friday, March 31 Strawbridge Studios will be at Pontiac to take Spring Portraits.


This is a PREPAY photo shoot for students who desire to order Spring Portraits.


Order envelopes were sent home in your child's Communication Folders.


Please return those envelopes to school before March 31 if you would like to have your child's portrait made that day.


Thank you for supporting this important fund raising opportunity for Pontiac.

Online Book Fair

Artwork on Display

Beginning this week, our schools artwork is on display in the lobby of the R2i2 building! The building is open from 9am to 9pm and the artwork will be up until the 30th of this month. There are several art pieces from each grade level on display. Don't miss this opportunity to see our school's great artists!

Annual Update

The Annual Update of student information will open April 17, 2017. This process includes providing annual proof of residence, verifying student information through Parent Portal. If you do not have a Parent Portal account or have questions contact Ms. Craig at bcraig@richland2.org.

HELP SUPPORT PONTIAC ARTS DAY!

Our 2017 Arts Day T-Shirt is on sale now! Below is the design which will be printed in white on the front of a sapphire blue t-shirt: Can you spy our school mascot and 8 other fine arts symbols in the design?

Our annual Pontiac Arts Day is always a big hit with teachers and students. It’s a day we take time to celebrate the fine arts with demonstrations, programs, and performances for our students. We would love for everyone to wear their Arts Day shirt on Friday, April 6th (Arts Day) and show everyone how much they love this special event! Proceeds from the sale of shirts will be used to assist with Arts Day funding. Please return the form below with payment (exact cash or checks payable to Pontiac) to our music teacher, Ms. Rayner, no later than Friday, March 24th ​to ensure the delivery of shirts the week of Arts Day.
